It's the final game of day two of the high school state championships here in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is the four state title game between the little Rock Mills and Little Rock Hall.
I'm also Jayhawk, along with J.B.
Brazil and J.B.. You saved the best for last, I guess because we are going to have a fun, fun basketball game here in the nightcap at Bank Cozy Arena.
It's always a wonderful time.
The venues perfect, the location, everything about it.
Great crowd on hand.
As you might expect.
Little Rock, Hall and Mills, two teams.
One of the best in the state.
Certainly at this classification.
They say they both will be running and it should be a lot of fun.
And we've had some really good games today.
I mean, you start with the three eight girls, had that game between Manila McGee and he had the three, eight boys, four, eight girls just wrapped up.
It's just been a really good day.
Basketball really, really has.
It's hard to believe this is day two.
Getting near the end.
Only one more day left.
And the nightcap is something special.
Both of these teams can go.
I'm really looking forward to it.
We're going to talk more about both these teams coming up next.
As you're watching the four state championship game on Arkansas TV sports.

You know, I think sports are really big to a lot of people, and because it's an important part of our fabric and our community.
And one good thing about what I've seen is it's high quality production.
You know, you think of the small communities all over Arkansas.
It's a big deal that they can turn on the TV or DVR or whatever and know they're going to get a quality product.
And so I think it just expands the, the focus of what PBS is doing.
You know, Arkansas PBS is doing a great job, and I think it's part of education.

As we get you set for today's 4K state championship game between little Rock Mills and Little Rock Hall.
Let's go ahead and take a look at the bracket.
How how the team got here.
We'll start with the Mills Comets.
And for Mills it started with Watson Chapel.
They won that ball game 60 to 31.
They move on take on Blytheville.
That was a close game two point game one 6258 to then take on Magnolia one little bit more convincingly.
And now they're here at the state championship game for little Rock Hall.
And really JB this is going to be a fun game.
They have got a great player in Anthony Hester that they do.
A four year starter for Mills.
He's been a go to guy.
But the good thing about Mills doesn't take away from Hester.
They got three other guys that are averaging double figures as well.
Hester though committed to playing and signed at Arkansas State.
He's a guy that can go get a bucket for them and hoping to have a big night on the one that matters the most.
If you're Mills coming into this game, what are some keys that they've going to have to win the ball game?
Well, we talked to Coach Cooper about that, he said.
And we got to win on the glass, got to battle holes, got some some length.
They got some size down low.
They got a win on the glass and they've got to win the possession game.
He said the team that has the most possessions likely wins this game, as you might expect.
Certainly in a game like this they got a winning possession.
Well, let's move on to the little Rock Hall.
They come in 27 and seven on the year.
This is their road to state.
It all started with Nashville.
They won that by 20 against the Scrappers.
Then they moved on in the bracket and took on Brooklyn and won it 40 43 to 34.
And then it was then Shiloh Christian won that ball game by ten.
Really more convincing ballgames along the way to then take on little Rock Mills.
But on their side, Landyn Hill, 14 points a game.
He's a stud.
A rich tradition for the Warriors, right?
They haven't won a title since 2013, but he was a guy that can go 32 points in a game early this year in the state tournament.
They're hoping he has a really big night now.
Keys for little Rock Hall if they're going to win a state championship today.
Well coach Coleman said they gotta slow down Mills right.
That's easier said than done.
But they've got to figure out a way to get a really good defensive stops.
Keep mills from the easy buckets, make them earn it.
And then they got to match the physicality.
Mills is a team that can get up and go.
They can get buckets from just about anywhere.
You got to figure out a way to match that little Rock Hall has not won a state championship since 2013.
They were last in this game in 2019.
And you know, a lot of people speculating this is the last year of little Rock Hall basketball.
You know, nothing's been confirmed yet, but a lot of fans that come to this, they say, you know, this might be the last time you get to watch the Warriors play.
And that's what Coach Coleman said.
Hey, when I talk to him 3 or 4 days ago on the phone, he's using this as fuel.
Maybe our last game to wear a whole jersey, we don't know.
But we're going to play like it is.
And what a way to go out to pick and play this big time title.
Well, and you saw the starters right there for Mills.
And by the way this Mills team, they started the year nine and eight on the season nine and eight.
They were a preseason number one and they started nine and eight.
They are the defending state champions in this classification.
You know when you got guys that have been here before that pays dividends because early in games you see coming to play the teams that are more composed or the teams that have likely been here defending state champs going on, going up against a good little Rock all team.
Micah Moore, Shaul Rockman as Landyn Hill.
Jay Sullivan and Tristan Yongqi, those are the, starters for little Rock Hall.
As we get set for today for a state championship game and looking forward to this one.
This is going to be a lot of fun and, we're just about set and ready to go.
Jumping center for little Rock Hall is going to be Tristan Yankee, the six 909 pound senior, averaging eight points a game, five rebounds a game.
He'll be jumping center against Anthony Hester, the six six senior.
And the ball is tipped.
It'll be controlled by little Rock Hall as we're underway in the class for a state championship game with the ball.
Micah Moore as the working out.
The Yankees trying to go down low, put in the hands of Sullivan, went through his hands.
But save and little Rock Hall's going to retain possession.
Harden moves to the basket.
Offensive rebound by Sullivan puts it up.
He's fouled.
He'll head to the free throw line.
Shoot one.
That's a really good drive from Yankee first off.
But Sullivan battling underneath to get that board I like that patient's ball fake.
Gets his defender in the air.
Got the late foul called.
But anyone tries to take that.
So you know the Mills Comets lost a little Rock Hall back in February.
They've played three times in Mills one 2 or 3.
Yeah that's one of those things where coaches say it's a good thing that we beat them twice.
We got to flush that right.
You got a completely.
This is a whole new game, a whole new atmosphere.
So he makes the free throw.
It's a three to nothing ballgame to start this one early in the four state championship game with the basketball Rhodes.
A lot of length on the floor between these two teams as Hester's going to take it high off the glass and he's going to get it to go.
It's a one point ballgame like that.
High percentage go that baseline had his defender shielded.
That's a really nice take on an easy deuce Moore with the basketball.
The jump circle.
Very athletic.
Two teams that know a lot about each other's turnaround jumper at the high post right side.
And it'll be taken by Mills with the basketball coming up is going to be Anthony Hester.
No Messiah Curry was not originally going to be in the starting lineup for this team.
And they put him in the starting lineup right before the ball game.
Originally it was gonna be AJ McCray there.
Must have seen something there in MK, right.
The ability to give them a different look and maybe a hot start against a whole team that's played really well.
Curry going to take in the lane dishes it right side.
Here's a three ball.
And he can't get it to go.
Rebounds taken by little Rock Hall.
That's what they can do right.
Really job.
Good job of pounding the glass and getting that more crosscourt.
Pass comes to Sullivan.
Sullivan being guarded tonight by Curry as he'll put it back in the hands of boy this is going to work it around with 20 on the shot clock.
Here's a jumper from the free throw line.
He's able to bury it.
That time with the jumper was Landon Hills.
It's a really high percentage look on his face too.
But that's his game Landon Hill can knock down shots with defenders all over.
Hester with the basketball going to work it right side.
Gets it in the hands of Curry.
Curry working down low.
Ball was deflected away.
And there's a little contact by Yongqi down low to knock that thing away.
And Mills is going to retain possession.
Some nice active hands from Paul.
Their links.
One thing because they get boards but it also could affect the passing lanes a little bit.
Mills is gonna have to be sure that they protect the basketball.
You can't have careless giveaways.
They're fortunate that wasn't off of him.
Trey Rhodes with the ball this time is he's going to have a nice cutter to Curry.
Curry goes down low amongst the trees.
Nice fade away.
Can't get it to go.
Ball's on the court and it's going to be taken by little one called Sullivan.
Comes up with it man.
Just nearly got that bucket to go.
Did Mills I like that look.
Just couldn't get it to fall.
There's Hill.
Goes left side to Moore for three off the side of the rim.
Rebounds pulled in by Messiah Curry working quickly.
Go the comets in the lanes.
Cunningham with the right hand.
He can't give the go.
Ball's bounced around and it finally goes out of bounds.
And we'll go with little Rock Hall.
It's kind of been a weird pace that neither teams really established anything just yet.
We thought we thought it'd be a track meet up and down the court, and they probably slowed it down to two.
Really play more methodical ball game.
What do you got?
Different scoring.
And both teams had that.
They got guys who can go get a bucket.
You don't you don't have any reason to concern just yet.
Certainly.
But you do want to try to establish some offense.
More goes left side in the hands of Rodman.
Rodman finds Yongqi in the lane, goes with the right hand hard and a nice spin move to give a little Rock Hall a send two lead.
That's what we got.
Some jelly, R.J.
nice bounce pass and into the lane off the glass.
That time it was AJ Dasher who was able to take it off the bus.
I like that quick response from Mills after a really nice move a smooth take from Yankee.
Go in and quickly get up the floor and get the easy bucket.
Left side to Rodman.
Now back down to Yankee.
Nice cross court pass to Hill.
Can't get the three ball to go.
Rebound pulled in by the comets.
Is coming down with it was Rhodes.
That's what you want off your hall.
That's an open look.
You'll take those things all day long.
Curry in the lane with the right hand.
Can't get the go.
Coming down with his Yankee.
You know what you're seeing is empty trips.
Nothing wrong with that but was all size.
They're able to get a lot of defensive rebounds and they're limiting the old boards of Mills.
Now we've got a whistle a foul.
That's going to be against Landon Hill for little Rock call.
And you talk about the size Mills has their biggest players Anthony Hester at six six for little Rock Hall.
Their biggest players Jay so where is actually young get six nine.
That's a really nice size and size.
He's athletic.
He's got great skill set.
He's a tough mismatch really on offense and defense too.
This.
Checking ball game for little Rock Hall is Ashton Morrison as he'll come in for Cunningham.
Here's Hill.
He'll pull up from ten feet away and knocks it in.
And once again it's out to a five point lead.
You see where Hill's doing it too.
It's another really good take a nice shot.
High percentage look working baseline has to this time.
Now a three ball attempt.
The right side by McCray.
Can't get it to go.
Ball's going to go out of bounds.
Last touched by Mills and Trey Rhodes.
And that'll take us to a media timeout 9 to 4 is our score.
Little Rock Hall leads Mills with 338 to play here in the first quarter.

So today was the first annual harvest for Hope event.
There's so much going on in agriculture right now.
So we talked about what could we do to have an immediate impact for farmers.
So we said, let's put a concert together and let's have it for, to raise awareness of a topic that not a lot of farmers want to talk about.
So many people across the state support Arkansas agriculture, and we need to because we don't just feed our families, we feed the state, we feed the United States, and we feed the world right here in Arkansas.

Decision you guys.
Welcome back to Bank nine for our score.
Look at coach Raymond Cooper.
You know he started it not as a coach.
You had no desire to coach who worked at the post office where his dad worked.
He got into coaching and my goodness I think he's found his calling.
Back to action here at Bank on Zeke Arenas little Rock Hall with the basketball.
And Yongqi is going to get fouled that time by AJ McCray for Coach Cooper.
He played basketball.
Sylvania has never made a state tournament, but he did play football at a state for three years and the two years of basketball under Nelson Catalina.
So he's been around sports a long time and he's a competitor.
Think about all the state championships between these two programs.
Little Rock Hall's got nine state championships in school history.
The mill's comments have five.
And most of those under Cooper.
That's right.
It's so impressive.
It's hard to make it here yet to win that many.
My goodness.
Michael Moore with the basketball is going to go to young guy on the left side Yogi with the right hand goes hard.
And that's just the mismatch I mean when you got a guy six nine like that that's a tough play.
I love the game of Yankee.
Just the way his IQ is really, really good.
He knows when to take good shots, when to take his defender off the dribble and when to drive.
Three point attempt.
Thought about it was AJ McCray and a pull down comes back.
Right side now McCray pulls up for three.
Can't get it to go.
Rebounds pulled in by Michael Moore.
Mills just can't get a bucket to go right now.
They just need to see a couple fall to really open up the offense.
More amongst the trees scoop and gets it to go oh my goodness Michael Moore.
He went down to scoops here in Hot Springs to get that one to go okay.
That's not supposed to happen like that.
My goodness.
Little Houdini and so here comes the Mills Comets as Trey Rhodes has it.
I think you've seen two sides of things right.
Paul's getting just about everything the fall Mills can't buy bucket right now Rhodes with a floater in the lane.
He gets that to go and takes it back to a seven point lead in favor of home.
Well he must have heard me talking.
That's really nice job on that floater.
They needed that one.
And Rhodes is one of the smallest guys on the floor right now.
I mean between him and Michael Moore at five nine and 510 that's crazy.
But he sure don't play like that was as a big boy play Landen Hill top of the key works and right side to Sullivan.
Back to yelling game Sullivan going to pull up for three splashes at home.
They had the double on Yankee.
They had to come over and help defense.
That left Sullivan open.
And he made a play for the comets.
Slowing things down, trying to set up a play with a minute 24 to play here in the first quarter.
And a dream start for Hall.
My goodness.
Nice turnaround jumper that time by Anthony Hester.
Hester.
Yeah we're seeing both teams kind of getting their back on that midrange.
Jay you know right now little Rock Hall is shooting 64%.
Mills are shooting 40%.
That's not bad 64 is really good to 49 back.
Well and you got to think about the nerves when you go to these state championship games.
You got to think for little Rock Hall.
They've not been in a title game since 2019.
Wow a lot of these guys were in middle school.
Yeah seven years ago elementary school.
And now we've got a foul as going to the floor.
That time was Ashton Morrison.
Did you see the facilitation from Hall.
That's what he was allowed the night to get their way so close to the basket.
It's a high percentage.
Look you're either going to get fouled or it's going to be a really nice take.
Either way Ashton.
Nice.
So Ashton Morrison at the line.
This will be his first time at the line tonight.
And it's no good.
And to be able to come on you know overall as a team for little Rock Hall you're a 66% free throw shooting team.
Not it's not terrible.
No.
It's the one thing that we've seen all throughout this tournament is free throws.
It's been hard.
I don't know if it's three arena or if it's just come a lost art, but just a lot of missed free throws so far.
The state tournament as he knocks down that one I agree and I think the atmosphere too right.
This is going to be some of the largest atmospheres they're going to play.
And just in terms of the size the arena itself, it's kind of got a different look.
But and just to say championship game itself has a lot of at stake.
So certainly the nerves are running through.
But you're right Brigham City has just not really been good all week.
So here is Curry is he'll back it back down goes over to Parker who.
Just checking the ball game.
Also Marshall Walls who hasn't lost it.
That's good defense from Brockman is able to swipe there.
They're running that zone.
It's really causing Mills some problems.
Now the 20s left here in the quarter as Michael Moore's got it.
Puts the hands of tombs turns walks it right side.
Brockman kicks it to Sullivan for three.
He splashes to the home again.
It's 22 eight.
Here's a half court shots.
Not even close.
And that'll do it for the first quarter of play.
22 eight.
Little Rock Hall leads Mills.

Well, it's always a good time when tribute time comes around.
RJ, we're glad you're with us.
Let's read the question here.
Okay.
For boys, Mills is looking for its second back to back championship today in the last six years.
So what's the record for the most consecutive boys state title?
I got to think that that's probably and we will let people think on it.
But probably like a little rock central right.
In the mid 90s I'd probably say four or maybe five.
All right.
We'll see if you're right here.
For those at home that RJ did not cheat, I did not I can vouch for him there.
No, I, I you know what?
I'm the team lead on my local trivia team.
And here's a steal by Yankee and it'll be taken by Landon Hill.
Brought up by Micah Moore.
Back to Hill.
In the lane.
And now Micah Moore.
Wide open.
Man goes amongst the trees at the last minute.
He gets it to go.
Nice job from Rockland.
Ball fake in the air.
Able to alter and then still stay composed to get the shot.
Now he's got a whistle and a foul.
I believe that's going to go against Sullivan.
Yeah I think you're right.
You know Mills nearly turned it over again.
They're having problems with his defensive setting here in the front court against and a half court against Cole I mean really cutting off those passing lanes.
They got the length to do that.
Inbound pass comes out to Hester.
Hester at the free throw line now kicks it back over to Rhodes.
We're just underway here in the second quarter.
Hall out to a commanding 22 to 8 lead.
In the lane goes walls.
Can't get it to go.
Ball's going to go out of bounds and stay with Mills.
There's Yankee just coming over an altered shot.
If he got that shot to go it would have been incredible.
It was just tough sledding with Yankee all over.
Got a timeout.
Going to be charged to little Rock Hall.
Are you a little bit surprised at the way that Mills just can't get something going?
I mean this has been a team all the contest.
They've played with little Rock Hall up and close and they just can't seem to find their footing so far in this one.
Yeah, absolutely.
You've got to tip your cap to all the defense they're scoring.
Sure they've knocked down some big threes.
But it's because of the defensive stops.
They're able to keep mills from getting to get anything going.
And on the other side offensively it's turning into point some really good looks.
They're moving the basketball really well.
And they're keeping Mills from really doing any type of facilitation right now.
Little Rock Hall, they are they are shooting looking to make sure that that's right.
Yeah that it's a little Rock Hall right now is nine of 13 shooting for 69%.
But they're and then Mills is four of 11 for 36%.
Oh my God.
What do you mean ball games in your four of 11.
But once again though we we've talked about this and we've seen it every single game that has been here this year.
And that first quarter is usually get the nerves out.
That's right.
And get the nerves out kind of get your play going.
I mean, there was a team day yesterday and there's shot at both coaches.
But I mean, it took them a really until the middle of the second quarter to finally get the groove and had to come back from 12 points down.
Mills is going to have something like that because you don't want to dig a hole too big for against Hall.
AJ McRae gets it off over to Rhodes.
Now back to Hester.
Go go baseline up and under.
Can't get it to go Yankees right there to get the rebound.
I like that look for master.
That's a really nice move.
It's a tough one to try to get him to go.
Just almost got it over the line Michael Moore with the basketball goes back right side to Hill.
Down to 630 and counting left here in the first half.
Hill's going to pull up from the free throw line.
Knocks it in I mean makes it look effortless.
I was about to say that's his game right there.
I mean his money pure his can be on that elbow.
Jay.
There's not much you can do to stop that.
He looks like he's going to drive in for the go attack the paint.
No pulls up.
So now McRae with the basketball comes back right side to Parker.
They swing around out to Rhodes.
McRae now going to drive the lane goes with the right hand.
Can't get it to go Yankee pulls it in.
Yogi is having a great day on the boards right now.
That's his now third board.
But he easily could have had a couple more that just slipped out of his hand.
And he's done a great job altering shots and blocking.
He may not show up on the stat sheet yet, but he's really caused a lot of problems for Mills in the paint.
And you can tell the comets are trying to score inside.
Rockman stands on the championship logo with 536 to play here in the second quarter.
Now here comes Rodman with a right hand, spins it off the glass.
Can't get it to go.
Mills comes down with it as Rhodes has it.
Rhodes over the walls in the lane.
We've got a whistle and a foul.
Two shots coming is walls is going to head to the free throw line.
It's an awesome job for Mills to get up quickly after a missed goal.
Get in transition.
That's your best chance at either getting a foul and get to the free throw line or having an easy layup.
But you know, one thing about Mills is that they've been a little bit more methodical.
They haven't done that run and gun in this game.
Like when we thought they were going to do.
Yeah.
Well and part of it is Hall hasn't missed very much 10 or 15.
Right.
That keeps you from doing it.
But Mills after a miss they want to go.
That's what Coach Carter Coach Cooper talked about.
When they get missed get stops they're going to try and go.
They just haven't gotten a lot of turnovers and they haven't forced too much.
Pretty much misses either.
24 to 9.
Their score.
At the free throw line.
Marshall walls free throws good check in the ball game for Mills is going to be Messiah Curry.
He'll come in for walls you know for Hall there's been a lot of history RJ Walt and Bobby Portis a lot of different victories.
But Coach Coleman too.
There's two guys, Anthony Smith and Chris that are part of the 2001 thing that made it here and didn't win.
He wanted to honor those guys.
They built a foundation for this team.
Here's a floater in the lane that time.
It's Micah Moore gets it to go Michael Moore again.
You see what Hall's doing a lot of mid-range stuff.
And it's paying off.
Right side out to Rockland or excuse me that's extra Cunningham.
Out into the paint.
They go find Hester.
He'll go up with the left hand.
That's what you want more of?
Right there.
I see Mills is kind of bringing a little bit of pressure a a force to turnover right there on the end of the baseline.
Did they say over did he cross over the baseline?
I believe he did.
Yep.
Yeah he did.
So Mills is going to get the basketball is Marzia Curry.
He's going to inbound it.
And he'll just throw it right in the hands of Micah Moore.
Moore racing down.
Can't get it to go.
But the follow is right there.
Coming up with the follow.
That time it was Landon Hill.
That's big time.
Now here's a three right side knocks it in by Vince Cunningham.
That's exactly what the doctor ordered for Mills.
They're bringing pressure.
You see after the make they went quickly.
They had an advantage.
And it paid off with a big time three.
It's a first three of the game for Mills and a 13 point lead for 28 to play here in the first half.
Hard to believe that.
Inbounds with the first turnover.
The game up by Hall.
And now they said he went out of bounds.
Believe he did attempted the steal was a great idea.
Just couldn't get it saved going out of bounds.
And you now see right one turnover.
Now Mills is really bringing all kinds of pressure.
This is part of the game where they've kind of let the game settle in.
Now they're starting to get on attack mode.
Jalen tombs just checked in the ball game.
In the middle of the wall.
And then Marshall Walls is going to check in for Mills.
Here's the inbound.
And it's going to come over to Micah Moore.
And he is going to work quickly.
And there's a foul on midcourt.
That time is going to go against Marshall walls.
And that's got to is what I was talking about with the pace I mean little Rock Hall has come out running up and the Mills College they've not matched that so far and they haven't gotten much of a floor.
But once you get some stops then you start.
Okay.
Now let's start maybe trying to create some some momentum, create a little bit of energy.
Now they're going a little bit of as A131 zone.
It looks like maybe man to man Yankee and trying to work it down low to hill.
He'll pull up from four feet away.
Can't get it to go.
Rebounds pulled in by Rodman.
He'll try to go back up.
It's blocked away and take it by Mills working quickly.
Wolves in the lane.
Lost the handle and stolen away by Landon Hill.
Now here comes Moore.
He'll slow things back down as he puts in the hands of Hill.
Under four minutes to play here in the second quarter 2815 Hall leads Mills.
Tims has got the basketball.
Almost had it stolen away as he was trying to get to Moore.
Now they swing it around to Rodman.
He'll drive baseline one on the shot clock.
Didn't get it did you get it off you know no he didn't.
It's great day by Mills.
Well and the other part about that is there was just a lot of sitting around out here.
They were just wasting some time off.
We'll talk more about that next.

This is unanimous.
Back here.
Bank Ozark Arena, 2815.
Holly Mills okay, I'm really wondering, J.B., you asked this question earlier.
Was that even close?
So I said, well, five on consecutive.
What's the answer?
Let's just say there's a reason you're the leader of the ball hall trivia team, right?
Yes.
You got it right.
Oh, my friend, I said little Rock central.
Ding ding ding.
We have a winner.
It's impressive.
RJ, that was even before I wouldn't even have fought them.
So there's that.
But hey, we're back to action.
2815.
Has little Rock Mills has got it.
Messiah Curry with the basketball gets over Rhodes working down low and Mills cannot hold on to that was Anthony Hester and was the ball deflected away.
It was I believe Yankee was the last to touch it.
So Mills will have basketball with 303 left in the second.
That's big for the comets.
Final three minutes.
You down 13.
You just got to find a way to chip into that lead.
Get it down with single digits heading into halftime.
Here's the inbound pass.
Hester trying to go up with it yanked you.
He didn't allow for that to happen.
But here's a bucket and a foul.
That time Marshall Walz was able to get it to go.
And he'll have to the free throw line to shoot one.
That's what you're battling on the glass right.
You got an old board.
You're right back up where they get the contact, the hoop, the harm.
That's exactly what Mills was looking to have happen.
That's great effort, right.
It's not a bad shot.
Good defense.
But look at that job from Walsh to track down the board to go right back up with it.
That's six points now for walls.
And the foul that time was on Yankee.
Those are the hard earned points that he gets right there.
There's the free throw.
It's good.
It's good.
And now Sullivan's going to check back in the ball game.
He's going to come in for Zahlen tunes.
And look here I mean now with that that made basket.
You're at a ten point game a future.
The three point swing you almost make knocking down a triple.
So now here's Hill.
Goes right side to Sullivan.
Back to Hill.
And the lane pulls up from the free throw line.
Can't get it to go as Hester comes down with the rebound.
Working quickly is McRae now left baseline crosscourt passes finds Curry.
Hauls in a really nice job a pack of play.
They've got as many points in the paint as Mills has total.
Here's a nice block by Yankee.
Into the glass.
Ball is going to go out of bounds.
And it's going to stay with the Mills Collins how about the rim protection that Yongqi brings.
He's altered shots.
But that time he swats that away.
He says not in my house.
Look at that I tell you he was six now.
And here's a three point attempt.
The corner can't get it to go as little Rock Hall's Micah Moore comes down with it.
Now, Brockman he'll go up and do they call a charge?
I think he said, count it as it looked like he said, count it so he'll head to the free throw line.
I could I was blocked from the official to see what he said.
But yeah, here's a look at it right here.
Boy, it's called is it?
That's a really close play.
And so now it'll be a potential three point play for little Rock home.
That's a backbreaker.
And for Mills you get back defensively maybe just a little bit late on that recovery defense.
That's a really nice job to get that basket to fall.
Those are all the to double.
Checking the ball game for Mills.
It's going to be Vance Cunningham.
So Rahkman is at the free throw line.
Also checking in by the way a late substitution.
Looks like Gabriel Davis checking in for the Mills Comets.
Now here comes Mills working fast.
That's walls.
He'll go off.
The glass that's going to is his bread.
And butter is at left side of the bucket.
You know it gets behind Yogi.
That's where you want to be.
You want Yogi around where his back's turn to you.
And then you've got a really good chance at the nice job of driving by Rawls to get that easy look.
As we're under two minutes to play here in the second quarter as Landon Hill's got it and get it off to Moore.
The defensive pressure is really picking up for Mills now.
Sure is Yankee with the basketball double team comes he goes over the right hand.
Can't get it to go like what Mills did.
They pack the page and try to get that defensive board Davis with the basketball.
Try to throw it down on the baseline.
Couldn't get it to goes as it was deflected away by one of his own guys off of Mills.
Oh.
Oh.
The officials are trying to figure out okay.
All thought that they had in Mills ball.
And it looks like Sullivan set to check in now.
Coach Coleman, I didn't quite like it.
He's one of the explanation.
So Mills basketball as they're going to get it in.
And Jack he's going to take it away.
They've inbounds plays.
Been tough for Mills a handful times.
They've lobbed in.
It's a dangerous pass.
And they turn it over again.
I can more with the ball.
Comes back left side to Rodman.
As we approach the one minute mark here in the first half Landon Hill.
Hill drives the lane floater makes it go man.
And it's set.
It's Cole.
That's a great crossover.
Double up there.
And he's done that multiple times.
But here's a three point attempt.
Left side taking it to go.
But the ball does.
That was Barnes Cunningham who came in man.
You got to have all boards in the effort from Cunningham on display.
That was awesome.
Now Micah Moore in the lane goes up with the right hand.
We've got a whistle.
And they call a charge.
He did.
They call a charge of Micah Moore.
And so Mills gets the basketball back with 38 seconds to play here in the first half.
Coach Coleman he kind of had a moment Michael Moore he said look at the scoreboard.
Hey we want we want to take a good shot I like the aggressiveness but you don't want to pick up a foul either.
So certainly not something he wanted there.
Now coming in the ball games with Ashton Morris.
And they'll come in for Sullivan.
Inbound comes to Gabriel Davis.
Go down to 26 seconds left.
It looks like there's a difference of about two seconds between the game clock and the shot clock.
Could basically hold for the final shot of for Mills.
I think that's what they're trying to do here.
Here's a three point attempt.
Right side the Jenkins to go Johnson comes down with the rebound.
That's plenty of time for all here RJ down to five seconds.
Shot clock's turned off Micah Moore got pulled for a deep three.
He gets it to go Micah Moore drained it from downtown.
It's 3622 at the half.
Wow.
That's some Drano and little Rock Hall RJ they are on fire.
A great start, but there's still two more corners to go.
We got a great halftime show for you.
Stick around as you're watching the Centennial Bank state basketball Championships on Arkansas TV.
Sports.
It is halftime at Bank arena.
But don't go anywhere because this is Arkansas TV and this is where we tell Arkansas stories.
Plus, in a few minutes, Christina munoz will introduce you to the Arkansas TV student All-Stars.
But first we go to the inspirational story of high school student Dallas Cathy.
Recently, Dallas got an unexpected opportunity and is using his voice to inspire young people across the state.
It's just the game, the atmosphere, the sounds.
I like to hear, the cracks, the bat pop of the glove and the crowd cheer and special me and baseball, you know?
I mean, he reminded me a lot of myself when I was a teenager in high school, just head over heels for the game of baseball, for him to be able to come on our broadcast at Division one level and not only keep up, but be good at it.
Super impressive.
It was honestly shocking.
I mean, you just don't let a 16 year old kid, you know, hang out in your press box.
You know, Dallas had a terrific job taking the weight off of my shoulders.
And then I could bounce off of for for 2 to 3 hours and and just enjoy calling a ball game with.
Yeah.
You just so happened to be visually impaired as Jack Cline gets going with a swinging strikeout fastball upstairs.
And what a great way to open for Jack Cline.
And what a great way to open indeed top ten in the OVC in strikeouts.
And he adds another one to his season.
And as I said a million times, I would love to see another home run.
So let's see if Martinez can do that.
Some of the struggles that I have is people are saying blind.
How so?
When I interviewed Dallas and I found out for the first time that he wanted to be a broadcaster, I went home and told my husband and he said the same thing.
How is that going to happen?
And I said, oh, I've been here eight years.
And the one thing I've learned is if they are determined to do something, they will find a way.
Dallas or any other child with any other handicap.
That's not who they are.
He is Dallas, who happens to be blind.
That shouldn't define him.
And that's how we felt.
And he was.
It wasn't going to define him.
It wasn't going to stop him.
Or even check the same sequence he intended.
We did not learn he was blind until he was about three, three and a half months old.
I just said, okay, this is it.
This is what we're going to do.
We're going to dig.
And he's going to be raised like any other kid on earth.
I've known about the game of baseball since I was probably 2 or 3, but my brother hit a ball from our garage to our shop and had started liking baseball.
And, you know, it opened my eyes to baseball.
My goal ever since I first played is to hit one over the fence.
Still ain't done it yet and the park is big.
I've got to figure out how to hit a ball first before I can hit one over the fence.
Miracle League started ten years ago.
Dallas was seven.
We always worried about physical activity and this is an opportunity that he would love.
McKinney I like to call myself the hardest hitter.
I'm probably not, but I will say that I'm probably the most competitive one there.
It just kind of grew and it became a challenge.
And Dallas has always been one to meet and exceed any challenge it has ever been given.
Welcome inside the Dom Thompson press box.
I'm Max Cole, train, joined by Dallas Caffey.
Dallas is a 10th grader at Arkansas School for the blind.
And it's your first time here at Gary Hogan Field.
How's it been so far?
Well, I'm loving it here, Max, and I can't wait to sit here and say some bangers.
Yeah, might be a tough day for it.
Some winds blowing in from as part of the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind.
All of our students get opportunities to have real world experiences.
For Dallas, that meant being able to pursue his dream of becoming a sports announcer.
You know, initially there was a question of how it would work and how prepared you would be, I suppose.
But I realized pretty quickly into that first meeting the day before the game that, here's the real deal.
And we were going to be just fine.
And I was gone.
What a shot blocker.
No.
And he definitely keeps a hitting streak going with that ball.
After meeting in the my office for the first time, I knew within 10s he's going to be great.
He study stats.
He study stats all day every day of so many baseball teams.
He had you know, sheets of paper, Braille printed out with lineups, everybody's stats, where they're from.
And stepping up to the dish is number 27.
Ryan Jack from Long Beach, California.
Past 330.
And when he was talking, I literally had people call him and texting me going, are you sure that's Dallas?
That doesn't sound like Dallas.
He just turned into like, this professional broadcaster, his ability to listen to the count, the number of outs, knowing where we are in the lineup, knowing their pitcher on the mound and what would be advantageous for the home team.
He was on top of all that and not be able to see a game, but yet call it as if you're watching is so impressive you never try to bunt when you're at the plate.
No, I really don't.
But I really just swing.
I swing for the fences.
The man had pressure at first, but we got into the game, we talked, we laughed, and I had one of the greatest times in my life.
I knew Dallas would break down doors, but what I didn't predict was that the kids who are disabled or blind or visually impaired watching that game because trust me, this entire school was watching that game that night, one of the moms called and she goes, oh my gosh, you have no idea.
My son learned how to dream.
And that that was magic.
That that's what this school is all about.
You can knock those barriers down.
I was so happy for Dallas.
I'm so happy for what he can show others.
That probably made my heart here in more than anything in broadcasting, the most important thing is that you have an unfiltered love for the game, and that's what Dallas showed in his short time.
You know, in a couple hours on the air.
I've always told myself, if there's a will, there's a way.
And so to any visually impaired or blind people that want to go out and broadcast, go chase your dreams, that's one of the best things you can ever do.
That young man will give the future no choice but to be bright for him.
The sky's the limit and he is going to be an ambassador for blind people everywhere.
And he's going to teach people that they're just like everybody else.
So many times I feel like vision cheats us.
We miss so much that he doesn't.
And I expect that we'll see him probably on TV here relatively soon.
Are you ready?
Whenever you are ready.
Good evening, everyone, and thank you for joining.
Welcome to Kark channel four.
I am Dallas Kathy.
This year we are celebrating 29 years.
That's it.
Great.
Thank you all so much.
Yeah, I'm pretty hard.
Fifth month or so.
What a great story.
And Dallas has no plans of slowing down any time soon after he graduates from Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind, he plans to pursue his passion of sports broadcasting.
We look forward to hearing you on the air soon.
Dallas.
Now, let's toss it over to Christina.
She's going to introduce you to some very hardworking student athletes.
Christina.
That's right.
Thanks, Steve.
Earlier in the season, we reached out to schools all over the state looking for athletes who not only excel on the court, but in the classroom, too.
Here is the Arkansas TV student all stars, class of 2026.

Rounding out the girls is Kylie Johnson of the Conway Lady Wampus Cats, a 4.0 sophomore.
Kylie already has several college offers on the table, including the University of Arkansas.
And finally, for the six boys, we have Sammy Kenzie from the Harbor Wildcats.
Sammie holds a 4.1 GPA and is looking forward to playing college basketball at the next level.
Congratulations and keep up the good work.
All right Steve, it is about that time.
Yes it is.
Christina.
Let's get you back out to Bank arena for the second half.
Here on the home of the high school basketball state finals, Arkansas TV.
Well, we get ready for the second half of action between little Rock Hall and Mills.
The four state championship game.
I'm RJ Hawk alongside J.B.
Rozelle.
Boy, these crowds just keep getting bigger and bigger as we inch closer to the six eight state championship.
Tomorrow night ought to be a great one.
Little Rock Central and Bryant's, tomorrow night in the heart of you and Mary.
It's gonna be a fun one tomorrow night.
So, you know, one thing that we didn't do, we didn't win this game over.
You're right.
We totally forgot and hit that guy right there.
Is the son of the superintendent Bryant.
And so she saw me before the ball game and said, hey, make sure you get my son a shout out.
I said, well, he better not screw up.
That's what he said.
As we go quickly back to action and, the ball goes out of bounds.
The referee crew really all have been outstanding.
Absolutely.
They have been outstanding.
And, even I was talking to some fans earlier from other games and he said, man, probably one of the best officiated games that we've had.
And you would expect that for a state championship game.
You got state champions out here going at it, or at least trying to get a state championship.
The refs are two and the best of the best.
Now here's Mills as here's a whistle and a foul on the floor.
And you say who did they get.
I believe they got morsell.
So all had a great first half.
But you got to imagine Mills is not going to lay down and expect him to really have some fighting them down.
14 they're going to try to make a run inbounds going to come this time to Marshall walls over to Curry works around a screen in the lane.
Pulls down stops.
Got it boy we have seen some expert mid-range shots today.
That's a really good start.
It really is.
You don't see guys I mean in Arkansas you got Jimmy Whitt, maybe Ricky Counsell, some mid-range guys.
But it's a lost ark.
Here's a three point attempt for little Rock Hall to hard Sullivan try to come down with it.
Ball goes out of bounds.
Last touched by little Rock.
Mills.
You know for the comets there's been some great some alumni.
Javon Guy King who's playing at UConn here.
He made an NCAA tournament bid.
They built a big program at Mills.
Both Hall and Mills are so rich tradition.
And they've got some really notable alumni.
Well and we talked about this early the number of state champs.
They've got 14 state championships between these two teams.
All that tells you all you need to know right there.
Little Rock Hall's got nine and the comets have five.
And there's a lot of teams in this state at that classification that have never even made it to the state title game yet, let alone win one.
So Hall's got the basketball.
Michael Moore is going to handle it.
Hall comes back left side to Hill.
Hill spin.
Move in the lane.
Can't get to go.
But he got bailed out.
And so he'll head to the free throw line to shoot two.
That foul is going to go against Rockland first.
And so as an up advance Cornell fans going to get relics.
The wrong wrong number five.
He was look at his hands around his head.
What a new coach.
It was like where to go wrong.
That was really good defense.
He may just maybe just got a little bit of a hand and he can't get the first one to go.
And this is his first trip to the free throw line tonight.
Hill's leading all scorers with ten points so far in this one.
As he gets the second to go at the 646 mark.
You see the pace of play for Mills start to pick up here in the second half.
Is moving a little bit quicker.
Yep.
They were getting that ball real quick.
Rhodes working the ball down low to Hester.
He's able to get it to go.
And you get a job up.
Fronting Sullivan got him behind him.
And then they landed over the top.
That was as easy as it gets.
I come more into the front court over the hill.
Hill trying to find Yongqi.
And the ball is going to go out of bounds and originally they said it was going to be Mills ball.
And then another official came over and said, wait a minute.
Now they're going to say it's little Rock Hall Ball.
I think that's the right call.
Initially it looked like maybe Mills, but I think it's the right call.
And now the officials are it's like we're going to have a timeout charged to little Rock.
Mills will be a 32nd timeout.
And you see Coach Cooper he's one of the explanation of why that ball's not his ball and his team's ball.
But it was a roll for the alley oop.
Tiomkin and Hester was the one that took it out of play.
Yeah because it was from from Cooper's view.
He saw it go to the hands of.
You didn't see that.
What happened on the backside that's exactly right.
Raymond Cooper's a he's a legend in basketball.
And here's a replay of that.
Let's see right here.
Well I guess it was tipped right before you get to the angle.
If you go more of a straight on to you, it goes to the left of Yankee.
So it looks like it's going to be on his hands.
But it's not.
So back to action.
Little Rock is going to have the basketball.
Today Sullivan gets it into the corner.
Find McMahon.
Now Sullivan on the right wing for three with partially tipped and saved back into a little Rock Hall player.
And putting it up was Morrison.
But somebody grabbed the net.
I thought.
Yeah, they're gonna say basket interference.
In the game.
That's tough sledding for Mills.
They just gave up too much here in the paint.
That was Hall really attacking and trying to crack that old board.
And the old glass that paid off.
3926.
You know, you can tell the idea for Hall is, hey, we're going to win in the paint until Mills can find a way to stop him in the paint.
Here's a nice pass down low that goes to Marshall walls.
Walls has done a really good job down low tonight.
Yeah, he's one of one of the few that have been really able to crack down the little Rock called defense.
At least in the paint.
He's taken some really good looks and great takes.
Really breaking down the defense Yante in the paint goes back left side.
Here's a three ball in the corner.
Can't get it to go.
Rebound can be pulled in by walls Rawls has got nine points so far in this contest.
He'll swing it right side to Curry for three.
And Curry can't get it to go.
And Sullivan pulls in the rebound.
Hall working quickly Morrison crosscourt pass.
Here's a three by Moore and he rattles it home.
And how good is Michael Moore.
He hit one end at the buzzer earlier.
And then that time wide open the trifecta 4228.
We've got a timeout on the floor with 502 to play here in the third quarter.
And it'll be a 32nd timeout.
Just when Mills had started kind of creeping back a little bit at a backbreaking three.
Because if you see Mills has only made one Three-Pointer they've not had that.
He looks they've tried to score from inside trying to match home.
Right now the three ball is not falling for little Rock Mills and that's why they're down 14.
And I'll say this I guess the comets have picked up their intensity, but it's still not to the level one.
Every time little Rock Hall gets it, they run down the other in the floor.
I mean, it is a it's a track meet on the other side.
Yeah.
You see Hall's had a lot of points in the paint.
Right.
But even the mid-range stuff.
But they're also four of nine from deep.
And when you're shooting 59% from the field they're going to win a lot of games.
Mills shooting 44%.
But they haven't made it one three.
That's where they've really got to figure out ways to get things going from deep, because right now, hold their size, really limiting them in the paint.
So little Rock Mills has the basketball.
He's.
Not bringing the ball up Mills.
It is McRae.
Now they get it over to Curry.
And the jam Yankees do it on Hester really keeping him from getting the basketball Rhodes trying to go down low with it.
It was intercepted taken by little Rock Hall as Landon Hill came up with it.
That's his good defense.
They wanted to go to Hester Yongqi would have none of it.
Didn't want him to have it.
And then that turnovers costly.
Landon Hill on the wing.
Now Solon finds Yongqi spin move.
Can't hold on to it.
Stolen away taken by Mills with the basketball is going to be Curry.
There's a jump stop but it's blocked away by Landon Hill and taken by little Rock.
Called the timing on that rejects that was perfect.
He timed it perfectly and he met him in the air.
Two you're seeing Hall with some good offense but I think their defense has been super impressive.
It has been really good.
I mean, it's been stifling.
Whenever Mills gets down here and tries to do anything.
This is a mills team has four players averaging double figures and they've just been stymied tonight Brandon Hill with the basketball down hill walks around a screen puts up the Yankees right there for Simon home.
My goodness get up big fella.
Wow.
328 to play here in the third.
Going down low Whistle and he gets it to go.
That's AJ McRae.
The foul that time it's going to go to RJ Ewing's.
And so with 324 to play here in the third.
That'll take us to a media timeout where little Rock Hall they lead 44 to 30.

Well, it's time for our student All-Star for this for a state championship game.
And we're going to go up to Shiloh Christian, where our student all star is Duke Bowman.
He's a senior guard forward whenever he wants to be that night.
But he has a 4.0 GPA, plans to attend Simpson College, both play basketball and study finance.
Boy, I love to see those student athletes going on after high school and in college playing, playing sports, but then also getting a really nice degree, great finances.
You would have never found me anywhere near the finance class.
I'm just telling you that I have a great wife that handles our finances, and I say anytime that I say finance and she laughs, she goes, that's in your vocabulary.
Haha that's great.
Here's the free throw.
It's good.
And that time by AJ McCray.
4431 little Rock College.
I like this idea for Mills against in that pressure just trying to force a turnover.
But Hall's handle it super nicely.
They've only turned it over just five times.
Landon Hill with the basketball trying to go to down to Yankee.
It's stripped away.
Bring it up.
Going to be walls.
He'll throw it up.
And we've got a blocking foul down low against Johnson.
It's not going to be young.
Who is that leave.
That was on Morris's step.
Once again though RJ you're seeing walls.
He's doing things down low.
No one else is really get anything going.
He leads the scoring for Mills with nine.
He's trying to get the double figures right here.
First free throws up and good has checking in the ball game for Hall is going to be Rodman.
Hall is also set to check in is Anthony Hester for the Mills Comets.
Walls up to 12 points.
I get 13 now.
He leads all scorers on the court.
He's been impressive.
He gets a well-deserved round of applause and a break and a breather.
They're going to need him down the stretch.
Right.
If a guy's scoring now, he's going to score late.
More than likely they're going to need him.
They had it wrong on the on the scoreboard.
He's actually only got 11.
So now here's little Rock Hall is Rahkman.
Bring it back.
Left side.
We've got a push that's going to go against Messiah Curry number 30.
Yeah I like the aggression I don't hate that for Mills.
You had to call the foul because he goes back court right.
So if he's forced back court you either got to call a backcourt violation, which wouldn't be the case because naturally it was forced over the line.
So the foul calls the right call.
Now here's Sullivan.
He'll go left baseline couldn't go and couldn't find anywhere to go.
And was able to kick it off out to Hill.
And Hill's just going to retain possession.
Get it back out to Sullivan.
That's Cunningham's done an excellent job on Landon Hill over the last few sequences.
He's really locked down Hill on that mid-range shot.
Moore goes right side to Hill.
Now back to Sullivan.
He'll pull up for three.
He can't get it to go but offensive rebound pulled it by Moore.
He'll step up from ten feet away.
Can't get it to go.
And rebounds going to be pulled in by Anthony Hester.
Big time rebound there for Hester to keep that momentum rolling.
Aster back left side.
He'll get it on the wing.
I'm trying to back down Sullivan now Hester fade away.
Gets it to go.
That's why Hester is going to be playing at Arkansas State next year.
No doubt about it.
That's not bad.
Defense from Jay Sullivan.
First off really good job of staying on it.
But Hester is just too good.
You saw that right there.
Now here's little Rock Hall's Rockland gets it over to Moore down to a minute 45 left here in the third.
Paul's really struggled to score over the last little bit.
Mills has done a great job blocking them down.
Yeah Yankees got him back his way in.
Can't get that one to go.
Mills tries to save it right in the hands of Rodman.
They kick it out for a three.
It's no good.
Mills then comes up with it.
With the basketball is going to be Curry comes back left side to Hester.
He'll pull up for three.
He can't get it to go.
Rebound pulled in by Hill boy.
They were ready to explode and erupt here in Bangkok Arena.
Sullivan on the wing now kicks it back out to hill to slow things down with a minute.
Seven to play in the third.
That would have cut it to a two possession game.
Mills is really on a run right now.
Now here's Sullivan from the corner for three.
He's able to rattle it home.
How about the game that Jay Sullivan's having?
Boy he had a great game.
The state tournament.
He is all right.
Made up from distance.
Curry in the lane gets around Sullivan up and under.
And he'll throw it in with 45 seconds to play in the third.
Really good response from Mills.
Cuts it down to ten but got to have a good final possession for both teams here.
Back to a ten point game with 33 on the clock.
Moore's got it right around the jump circle 19 on the shot clock.
Oh hold this thing down.
There's a lot of seven second difference between the shot clock and the game clock.
Working it down to Yongqi spin move.
Sullivan's right there to get it.
Put it back.
Can't get it to go.
Here comes Mills.
Curry.
Curry in the front.
Pulls up for three.
Can't get it to go.
And that'll do it for the third quarter.
Kind of Roseau shot right there.
He had an open look at it.
But Rushton we head to the fourth quarter.
It's a ten point game.
Little Rock Hall leads 4737.

Well, we want to say thank you to Hawks Pizza for providing food for our crew this week.
Hobbs Pizza is a proud supporter of Arkansas TV sports.
Their food trucks, located at 1370 Airport Road in Hot Springs since 2018.
You know, rumor has it I just heard this is committed to go.
Okay, that because you're not doing games with us tomorrow, you are actually providing Hawks pizza for all the staff and all the crew for all day tomorrow.
That's that's just what I heard.
Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, no, that's well, that's news to me also.
So they said since your punishment was that you do want to do games with us, you have to buy food before I got to pay for taco.
You're paying for man, right?
They're not.
They're not donating.
Here's a three in the corner.
And that time it's knocked down by Curry.
And now you've got a one.
It's a seven point game.
Single digits.
How about that from Curry.
Looks like Steph Curry on that three.
We haven't had this close of the ball game since the first quarter.
How about the fight for Mills Sullivan from the right corner.
He's going to try to get it to go Kent coming down with it's Mills Curry in the front court.
You almost feel the energy shifting a little bit in Mills favor don't you.
The pace of play picking up a little bit.
There's walls off the glass.
It's good.
It's a five point game.
There's walls again.
Marshall walls.
Doing what?
Great cut on the back side.
And an easy bucket.
Under seven to play.
Here's Micah Moore right side in the hands of Landon Hill.
Yankee now out on the wing.
He'll back his way.
And ball's deflected Sullivan gets it.
He puts it up.
Can't get it to go.
Go back over the Yankee hill.
Lay it in.
How about that from seven.
That's a much needed bucket and scored in a while.
But a 2011 run for Mills over to that point.
Now here's Trey Rose over to Curry.
Curry's been one of the hotter players here in the second half.
Curry in the corner thought about a three.
And the ball is going to go out of bounds.
That's great.
Recovered even from Hall because that close out there that's what kept Curry from shooting at three trying to sideswipe.
But then the help defense came.
Great job from Hall to close that off Mills in the third quarter.
They outscored Hall 15 to 11.
Inbound goes to Curry.
And trying to get it to Hester.
Just overthrew in Hall's.
Got it is here comes Michael Moore.
That's been the bugaboo for Mills is that lob in play.
That was an inbounds play but it was a lob is a dangerous pass.
You know one thing that Hall has done they've really slowed down the pace of play on this end of the floor.
That's a good point.
You're right.
They were shooting at crazy early.
Sullivan he'll have a turnaround.
Knocks it out.
But competitive.
You know they've got their objective really has been is just to take as much time off the clock.
Now here's a foul that was on the floor before the shot.
But if you've notice here in the Bruin the second half they get the ball and they stand around.
The jumps are coming to stand there and.
Tick tick tick tick tick.
And they wait till about eight on the shot clock before they do anything.
Milking the clock.
That's been in their favor.
Bucket a moment from Jay Sullivan getting this back.
He's been a three point sharpshooter but that midrange has opened it up.
That was a big bucket to push it to nine.
Just when Mills thought they were going on the run.
542 to play here in the fourth quarter.
We got a timeout on the floor.
Hall leads 5142.
And you know what?
We've got a great slate of basketball games tomorrow as it's all starting at noon tomorrow with the five girls you got Farmington and Mountain home at noon.
The five boys married in Parkview at games at 145.
Then in the nightcap, the six eight games, you got six eight girls Harbor and North Little Rock.
And then the finale of the entire weekend is the six eight boys in little Rock central.
And Brian, you know the way this whole weekend set up, it just it's on rotation, but it went one eight games, two eight games, three and four all the way to six eight.
Next year, the six eight games are going to be played first.
That's how they do it rotate.
But it worked out perfectly where the big guns are going to be played on Saturday should be a okay crowd tomorrow.
Well, and what's what's great is, you know, if you're here and you're fans and you've watched all these games, these crowds just get a little bit bigger, they get a little bit bigger.
And now we've got a great crowd on hand tonight.
Yeah I think the pre-sale there were 1800 tickets sold.
And there's been a lot of walk up so far in this one.
So hey there's your shooting numbers right there.
1735 from Mills 21 to 43 for little Rock Hall.
So some good numbers.
I think the fans heard that Hawks pizza might be here, that maybe they beat.
They started creeping in and maybe the talent on the floor to.
So Mills is going to have the basketball here.
Can I have to shoot the three a little bit better.
Just two for 11.
Going to need to hit some big shots down the stretch.
Curry with the inbound.
He'll have it on the wing.
Had it deflected away.
And go to the road's out.
Cunningham gets it over the walls.
He'll go up.
Then we got a charge.
Walsh tried to go over the defender.
That's Ashton Morrison and he'll be.
He'll get charged with the foul.
And now checking in is going to be young.
He has excellent backside help defense and running that zone Sullivan trying to front get the steal.
Flashed it.
Well how about that rotation back side drawing that charge.
Those are the plays that don't really show up on the stat sheet.
But that are monumental if you're going to win a title.
Full court press on by Mills.
Micah Moore goes to Sullivan in the corner.
He overthrew Yancy, and now he's got a whistle, a foul.
Yeah.
Hey, walls again?
Yeah, it was a play call, but Younkin kind of got pushed from behind.
That's why he couldn't get that ball.
So now for Walsh, that's his third personal foul.
Oh, boy.
That's bad.
Here's the inbound.
And let's take it in the backcourt by Moore.
Hall being really deliberate with the basketball is Leighton Hill is going to go.
Take it off the glass.
He's fouled.
It's counted.
Go ahead in the free throw line and shoot one man oh man.
Lane and Hill with the clock rolling down 444 to play as a big time take from Leighton Hill.
And in Hill on the night now has 13 points.
And at the Free-Throw line 12 is that the fourth on walls now.
Oh boy that is, that is monstrous.
I think you're right.
I think that's four.
And he knocks down the free throw.
Yeah.
It's fourth personal foul on Wolves.
He's the right now the leading scorer for Mills.
Gonna have to get some buckets down for the comets.
Here's a jumper at the free throw line.
And he takes it back under ten points for the deficit.
Still plenty of time left if you're Mills.
But you got to get stops.
You can't have an one's a three point play.
Got the media timeout coming up here in 20s.
And we've got Whistle and we got a ten second call in the back court.
So Mills you get basketball back.
That's great defense for the comets.
Just what the doctor ordered.
Get the stop there.
You got to turn it into points again.
You know you knew Paul was going to win the rebound battle likely up 2317.
But Mills is down the road for the most part.
Curry with the basketball goes right side out to Cunningham in the lane.
There's walls and that's what he's done great all night back cut in the lane to be able to get around the basket and score.
You know you talked about that and one earlier for Wayne and Hill how big that was I think it was big.
That was the fourth foul on Wallace more than anything.
That's huge.
Mills has got to keep him in the game.
Now to an eight point game.
Now here's Hill and there was a foul before the shot.
Was that foul going to be on.
Yeah.
They're going to call the foul on Vance Cunningham.
And for Cunningham that'll be a second personal foul.
And that'll take us to a media timeout 358 to play here in the ball game.
Hall leads Mills 54 to 46.

Oh, what a great job.
Yes, our stat team has done really all championship.
We can really all championships that we've had Troy Mitchell, Blake McAfee, Randy Baker, Ernie Higgs and Tyler Freeman.
The best of the best, RJ.
And you know what?
I found out tomorrow night when we get to the Bryant game, Troy Mitchell will have done 250 of these game.
Wow.
So he's a veteran.
Back to action as little Rock Hall's got the basketball Micah Moore has it as he'll work it right side down to 15 on the shot clock.
Balls on the floor.
Hill jump runner in the lane.
Can't get it to go.
But Brockman right there.
He puts it back up and junkie.
He comes in and finishes it.
That's the old boards coming in big time for Hall.
Third time's a charm.
Now here's Curry is.
He'll get it over the left side.
That's down the walls.
Walls.
Does it with the right hand.
Can't get it to go.
There's a battle for it on the floor as it'll be a jump ball.
Possession arrow goes a little rock hall.
Oh, possession.
The ball.
It's a backbreaker.
309 to go.
Just not a lot of time left for Mills.
If you look at the 32nd intervals or 35 seconds, you're looking at a total of six possessions.
That one's gonna be more than that.
So Mills has got to get some stops, maybe some takeaways.
So inbounding it for little Rock Hall is gonna be Landon Hill.
There's a little pressure in the back court.
They'll get it in to Micah Moore.
Michael Moore comes from a great family.
His dad played at Hall, who's a basketball player at UAB.
He's on staff.
He comes by naturally.
Now Sullivan with the ball down to 20s on the shot clock.
Hall is not in any way, shape or form in a hurry, but here's a three by Sullivan as we take him by Mills working quickly.
Here's Curry.
He'll pull up for three.
Heat sinks.
It.
That's a big bucket right there to stop and pop.
To take it to a 5649 lead for Hall.
You had to have it.
You had to have of your mills two things.
You get a three pointer and you get it quickly.
Just what the doctor ordered to cut it back to a seven point game.
And that's what you're going to have for Mills.
You got to have stops and then you've got to score on your end.
They have got to find a way to protect underneath the bucket.
That is where Mills has always been really, really good.
Tonight is working the clock and then getting down low to Yankee or Sullivan and been able to put it in.
That's right.
And then Coach Coleman talked about that.
He is an open gym in the off season.
He lets a lot of guys come in and play.
He wants to cultivate an environment for money where they learn to play the fundamental basketball, but they play as a team and chemistry.
And boy, he's a Marianne, a native.
He wants on at Arkansas for football back in the day to coach Coleman.
But he's knocking on the door for a first state title for Hall.
It's been 13 years since 2013 was the last time they won.
Now they were in the state championship game in 2019.
Right.
Lost that game.
Yeah.
Been a little while.
And if they win or Bulldog Hall wins it will be their 10th state title in school history.
Got a feeling though RJ this was far from over.
Yeah, we still got 237 to play in this one.
Little Rock Hall 56, Mills 49.
How does how Hall handle the pressure Mills has been bringing it, but with the intensity in the game wanting out, how do they handle it inbound?
It's going to be brought up by Landon Hill.
Or Vince Cunningham's had a great job on him.
He's getting the running for valedictorian at Mills.
So not only is he a heck of a ballplayer, he's a really smart individual to Hill in the lane with the right hand, he'll be fouled.
And honestly, I don't think you hate that foul because now you put him at the free throw line to shoot.
That is it.
And you know you miss 1 or 2 of these things and it stops the clock at two minutes 17 seconds.
Yeah.
He's a tough guy to stop playing at Hill.
So get that foul.
You hope he misses a free throw or two.
Oh and he missed the first.
So Mills delay.
That was a really good foul.
Now.
Second one rolls in.
And it's back to an eight point game.
Isaiah Curry with the basketball finds rolls back to Curry.
He'll drive the lane puts it up partially blocked.
And we've got a whistle A foul.
So the foul is going to go against Sullivan.
And so that'll put Curry at the free throw line.
And for Curry three he has not been to the free throw line tonight.
Take a knuckleball down low to cut into a two possession game.
These are huge.
And he gets the first free throw to go.

Second, free throw is in and out.
Doesn't go back to a seven point game.
Is 1 or 2 minutes to play.
All working quickly is now go get it to Rahkman and go just play.
Keep away for a little bit.
Down to 15 on the shot clock as Moore has got it.
He'll bring it back out over the hill down to seven on the shot clock guarding it down low ball was stolen away.
Taken by Mills.
Here comes Curry.
They're one big bucket away right here from really making things interesting.
Curry for three.
And now no good offensive rebound.
It's stripped away.
Taken by Hall.
That was Sullivan.
He got his hand in there.
Knocked it away.
How about that play.
Now here's Hill the Yankee has it taken him.
But he's fouled.
Boy I thought he got a big rejection right there.
But it was body contact and the foul came.
And it's just personal boy the effort from Hester there I went there I thought maybe he got a clean boy.
That's a tough break.
Young.
He was going up big for the slam of Jamal.
But it was Hester.
Pick it up the foul.
So now Yankees at the free throw line.
This is the first time he's had to shoot shots like.
And his first one's no good.
Bottom on RJ down seven for Mills one minute six.
You've got to have a shot on this next possession.
You got to make one second.
One's no good.
Misses both of it.
We're down to a minute to play in this ballgame.
Cunningham works the ball down low in the hands of Wolves.
And there we go.
Whistle a foul now.
May be on the floor.
So Hall's only got what will be their third time out.
So wouldn't make free throws unless they considered it on the shot.
Now they're going to say it was on the floor.
So Will on the baseline.
And now.
Is that the fifth foul on Sullivan.
It is.
So Sullivan is fouled on the ballgame now checking in is going to be Jalen Tombs right.
Big Curry with the basketball.
Mills down by a seven.
Going down low with it with the right hand.
Can't get the go.
Gets his own rebound.
He goes back up.
He's fouled.
Boy Marshall walls he's just playing big.
Damn Yankees got all kinds of looks like he got hit in the face.
But how about the offensive rebounds for Mills.
Gave him a chance.
They're not done yet.
The efforts they're trying to cut it down to a two possession game.
Yeah.
It looks like Yogi got scratched.
He's got blood coming down the side of his face.
He's not.
Obviously you don't want to come out of the game.
Oh look at him and then he's more frustrated that he's going to come out than the paint itself.
I can guarantee you.
So at the free throw line as Marshall rolls, he's been perfect at the free throw line today a perfect five for five.
He's got 15 points.
And now we've got a whistle and.
They're going to call a timeout.
It looks like there may be some blood on the floor.
Maybe I don't think an official timeout can charge.
I think they're going to clean up the blood that's on the floor.
I watched well for both teams.
Kind of get a timeout to talk things over.
Looks at two.
That's a free timeout because right now Mills has three timeouts.
Rock Hall has two.
But here's the deal RJ you make both free throws.
If you're Hall here it's a one point game.
It's a five point game.
But there's 42 seconds left.
So you really don't have the luxury of letting Hall milk the clock.
You've got to get a steal.
If you can't get a quick maybe ten 15 seconds you get a foul.
Yeah, maybe sooner than that.
I think they're they're tracing the steps across the floor because there's a blood trail from the basket back to the little Rock Hall.
Well, he got his bit.
He did too.
Kind of elbow or a fox out.
It was all clean.
Don't think it was anything intentional.
It's just unfortunate for Yongqi because he's a huge presence, no pun intended, down in the paint.
Well, and right now he's sitting on the bench and the size that they need is sitting on the bench as there's two shots.
Hopefully they are going to try to get him worked up, get him back in before this.
Possessions over for Mills.
First free throw is no good.
He misses them both.
And now we've got a whistle and a foul.
The foul is going to go against little Rock Hall.
They're going to call it on.
Oh boy.
That's two.
It may have been a lane violation.
Maybe just one free throw here.
Oh is that what I think.
Maybe what the call was heartbreaking.
Yeah.
You're exactly right.
So they're saying they're saying one one shot.
So was back at it again.
Knocks it down for six point game two possessions.
So you need at least one there.
Here's the inbound ball is deflected but taken by Hall Moore tried to get it down.
And he's going to throw it.
Stolen away by Mills working with his roll to Curry.
Oh that's actually to Cunningham.
And now we get a whistle and a timeout.
Charge to the Mills.
Comets with 29.9 seconds to play here in the fourth quarter.
It's a six point game.
Buckle up RJ my goodness.
If you're not watching this don't go anywhere.
This is coming out of the wire.
Mills had to have a turnover.
Huge.
Well and the big thing right there and Yankees coming to check back in.
They didn't have a big body on the floor.
Usually that play goes right there when they throw it down.
And just over throw in that time.
Well now it's pretty simple.
Larger mills.
You don't necessarily have to have a three, although you'd like one.
But more than anything you got to score quick.
You've got to score quick.
You need it in less than 10s.
Whatever it is, this is a 32nd timeout.
He's got 29 seconds remaining in the ball game 5751 little I call this has got a march madness type feel.
I don't remember a few years back it was Northern Ireland Texas A&M A&M came from behind.
Yeah down ten with like under 30s to go so it can be done.
Maybe there's hundred and 50s I'm not sure.
But it was a big comeback.
I don't know if you watch the UK game the other day when they came back right in the ball game to fourth overtime.
That was one heck of a game.
JJ and Guy King was in that game.
A former Mills Comet.
So 5751 Mills is going to have the basketball rolls off the inbound.
They're going to get to Hester for three.
Can't get it to go.
Ball's deflected.
Picked up by Hall.
Brockman's got and he'll be fouled.
Took six seconds off the clock.
23 over little Rock.
You're feeling really good.
If you make one free throw you're feeling a whole lot better about your chances.
These are big free throws right here.
So to Shah, Rahkman is at the line.
He's one for one from the free throw line.
There.
And he missed his first one.
Things might get interesting if he misses the second one.
Second free throw is good.
Shot clock is turned off.
They're going to call a timeout.
This looks like little Rock Hall is going to call timeout.
It will be a 32nd timeout with 23.9 seconds remaining in the game.
It's a seven point game in favor of little Rock Hall.
And how big is that?
Free throw?
It was for Mills he needed.
It's now a three possession game essentially.
Or for Hall.
Excuse me.
Goodness.
And Mills got their work cut out for now.
RJ is no doubt about it.
Well and well.
They had an opportunity for a third and open three at the top, but they missed that.
They're getting the shots that they want.
They're just not able to fall.
And right now Mills is shooting 48% on 20 of 42 shooting, little Rock Hall shooting 48% on 23 of 48 shooting.
It's been two possessions game.
Right as we talked to whoever has the most possessions.
And it's been hard to tip your caps to the Warriors.
They have played just like that.
Like Warriors tonight on both ends of the floor.
I'll tell you really the difference in the game.
Is the three point shooting.
I mean little Rock calls it five three so far in this film they're 5 to 14 shooting up from three mills, three of 14.
Here's a three from the left side.
He sinks it.
That time it was AJ McCray who was able to sink a three from the left side.
And we've got a quick timeout on the floor.
Wow McCray.
You had to have it.
Just breathe it a little bit of life.
What little laughs there is for Mills down four with 10s.
Crazier things have happened.
But that gives them some help.
The ball game has not been this close since back in the first quarter.
So you've got 10.8 seconds for the officials going over to.
Play.
I think they're checking the time on the clock.
Nice open shot that time to set that thing up.
And they reset it to 13.5.
I think that's the right call.
Both teams have one timeout remaining, and they reset the clock to 13.5.
It's a four point game.
Well for Mills you get a steal in the bucket quick.
You feel really good.
But it's not.

The pressure's on.
They'll get it into it and back to him.
And the foul comes with 9.8 seconds remaining in this one.
On the foul that time is going to be on Anthony Hester.
And so it's the third personal foul for Hester.
And that will send to the line Landon Hill who so far today is three of five from the charity stripe.
Knocks down the first.
Second one is no good.
Rebounds pulled in by the comets.
Down to seven seconds.

And what a year.
I mean, with everything they whether their programs going to come back or not.
Nice.
You know these guys, they really left it all out in record time.
It's such a fun team to watch really all season long.
And it's well-deserved for Coach Coleman and company Hall Warriors.
They played like it tonight.
They were so poised from start to finish.
They weathered the storm.
That was the Mills comeback.
But man oh man.
Bittersweet the feeling.
13 years in the making.
Going out with the big time back.
And they just name the the MVP is Landon Hill for this ball game.
And Landon Hill had 16 points with three rebounds to go.
So we'll check in with Landon here here in a moment and hear what he has to say about tonight's win.
But what a season for these.
I mean and here's the thing.
And a lot of people say MVP award.
It's not it's not for this game.
It's for the state.
The entire state tournament.
That's right.
And because game young he played a great game as well tonight.
Hit 12 points six rebounds.
I mean really overall for little Rock Hall.
He had more with ten points.
Heck Sullivan even had 14 points.
So it was a great night by the little Rock Hall Warriors.
Yeah monumental all the way around.
Typical Mills.
Great season for them.
But just was it their night.
Hall with the big time victory.
Yeah it's such a fun game to watch.
We keep talking about it RJ and the performance from Landon Hill and Coach Coleman Coleman's going to be placed.
Coach is joining us now.
And she gets the headset put on.
Coach congratulations on the win.
Thank you very much I appreciate it.
You got to an emotional moment for you guys with you know, a lot of people talking about this program and whether the future, what the future is going to hold.
But this group of seniors for you coach, really is a special moment for what you guys to bring your 10th state title to little Rock Hall.
Yes.
I mean, I'm I'm just overjoyed and just so happy for the kids.
I mean.
Some of this caliber.
But I'm just so happy for the.
And we get your mom out here, right.
And go out here and join you.
Join your son.
Come on.
Is Coach Coleman's moms just stepped up here?
Coach, I'll tell you this.
You know, I've seen you before talking about family and what these players mean to you and seeing your mom come up here.
Just describe the emotion with these kids and what what the what it means to to bring home another state championship for them.
I mean, I'm just so happy for them.
I mean, at the beginning of the year, I just they just dedicated themselves to being the best team today that they could be.
If you go back to last year, we thought we had a really, really good basketball team last year, and we lost the first game in the regional after overcoming a lot of a lot of injuries.
So they they made up their mind after that, after that loss that they were going to dedicate themselves and just try to get get the most out of this season.
And just to see them reach their goals, I mean, that's that's that's just tremendously gratifying.
Coach, for your team to come out as poised.
They did a great a hot start and they weathered the storm in the second half.
Speak to the way you prepared your team to stay as poised as they were really from start to finish.
I mean, we this is our fourth time playing, you know, playing Mills that shout out to, you know, Mills and coach coop.
Coach Cooper myself go I mean, we go way back and been playing each other for a lot of years, but, back to our basketball team.
I mean, it wasn't any secret.
I mean, we played each other for team.
We had the, you know, great games last year against each other.
They were all battles.
So, I mean, they knew what we were doing.
We knew what they were doing.
So I mean, we just having to come out on top this game.
Coach.
Hey, congratulations.
Go celebrate with the team.
I think the radio guys going to talk to you as well.
But hey, congratulations.
Thank you.
Congrats, coach.

But Landon hey I tell you what you guys seem poised from the jump.
Like they they try to put a lot of pressure on you guys in the back court, but didn't really seem like much was facing you guys tonight.
No sir.
Talk about you know you guys knew them really well like you played them a lot.
When you're preparing for a game like this, you know a lot about a team.
What kind of goes through your mind getting ready for a game like this?
You know, playing, four times, we I know what we're going to get.
We got to know what they know what to do.
You know, they had to push the ball real fast.
They had to make sure we got back on defense.
That's really all they have for us.
You know, you've been at Paul for years, right?
Four years was a time coming.
You wanted to take this team home and finish things off in the right way.
Talk about the emotions.
I saw you getting a little bit emotional as I would have as well.
Well deserved from you.
What was going through your mind when the.
When the clock struck zero?
Yeah, I was just I was just happy, you know, I wanted to do it for my family, so I just had to get it.
You got a lot of seniors on this team.
You know, I was looking at your starting five.
All seniors.
This has been a really kind of an emotional roller coaster all season for you guys.
Because, you know, there's just a lot of uncertainties about what the future of the program is going to look like.
And, for you guys to win a state championship this year, what does that mean for you guys?
It means a lot.
You know, for the coming up for the coming up, players that's going to be here next year, you know, hopefully they'll get it done again.
Going back to best.
Well, I got to ask you big time when it's been 13 years since you brought home the title, what's the celebration going to look like for you and your guys?
I don't know.
Yeah, I got I got to figure that out.
Hey, Claire, we got money, so he's going to shout it somewhere.
There you go.
Anyway.
Hey, congratulations.
And go celebrate with the guys.
Congrats.
That is Landon Hill.
Your title, your MVP of this one is the, Hall Warriors.
They win it 59 to 54.
JB final thoughts on this.
One of the best.
We figured coming into this match up that this was going to be a really fun one.
It's going to be a tightly contested matchup.
But it was for a bit.
He was in control.
Mills made a push, but the Warriors weathered the storm and 13 years in the making, they finally bring home the hard way and add it to the trophy case.
