Welcome back to Majestic Park West.
More or less orange with you.
We're getting set for the four day softball championship between Warren and Monticello.
This is going to be a great game because these teams have such a great rivalry.
16 miles separate these two towns.
And you know it's funny.
They would these they would have played in Willmar.
That's right in the middle.
They could have gotten the pasture and mowed it down and played this game in Willmar if you'd have told them to.
But instead they're very happy to be here and make history.
Somebody is going to make history today.
Yeah, absolutely.
And it'll be fun to see who gets to bring home their first state championship.
And as you mentioned, both of these teams have played already three times.
So familiarity is going to be something these two teams know well.
Not only have they played three times, but you know, they grew up together.
They played rec ball together.
All of those things where it was one of those situations where there's so much more than bragging rights in this matchup.
All right.
Let's get to know these teams a little bit.
Let's start with the, worn lady Jacks.
Who do we need to watch?
Yeah.
You know, when you look at Warren, I really think it's important to look at Charlie Wardlaw.
She is behind the plate today for the Lady Jacks.
She's batting 401.
She's got 38 RBI and she can get it done with her bat.
And for the jacks, just overall I think the biggest keys to their success.
We talked about familiarity.
Use that familiarity to your advantage and just be in the moment.
Don't make this game bigger than it has been and stay composed.
These two matchups that we have already seen, the three matchups we have already seen have gone Monticello's way.
Can they be able to see if they can learn from those losses and get a win today?
On the other side of things, also going behind the plate with Ashley Hales when it comes to Monticello, she is batting for 81.
She's got 38 hits.
West 13 home runs and 38 RBI.
She is our player to watch for the Lady Billies.
An overall use that offensive power.
You look up and down this lineup and you look at what they can do offensively.
I mean, I don't know if there's anyone who's batting below 277 on this lineup, so use that offensive power.
And then also just do what you've been able to do and have success against Warren like you've had the last couple days.
Yeah, they scored 34 runs in those previous three games against Warren.
So I think it's very important for Warren to get off to a good start.
Just for the psyche of it.
These girls know they've lost all three matchups.
Get off to good out to a good start and get some confidence against this Monticello team.
Today's weather, hopefully we have avoided the worse in the major storms, have already moved through.
May have a pop up shower from time to time, throughout central Arkansas.
But let's cross our fingers and hope it stays just like this 67 degrees.
And, no rain right now.
We're going to get things started when we come back.
First pitch just minutes away.
It is the four state championship game between Warren and Monticello.

Tomorrow night.
All right, here we go.
We are ready.
It is time for Ward and Monticello, part four and is all for the for a state championship.
I'm Wes Moore.
She is Alyssa Orange and we have a packed stadium.
I'm telling you, there is nowhere to sit.
You can tell right there in the stands.
Orange on one side.
Monticello blue.
Says the colorblind guy.
Blue.
Yeah, okay.
I was make sure one purple.
No, no, that is blue shade blind.
I can't tell blue and purple.
Monticello, is, out in the field right now.
And there's your first pitch from Addie Frazier.
Addie has been their go to pitcher on, inside the circle this season and leads off the game with a ball.
Warren up there being aggressive.
Haven Johnson, the center fielder, leads things off for Warren.
She's hitting 385.
Great leadoff hitter for the for a Warren.
She gets on base a lot and they need her to start off this game.
I think it's so important for Warren just to to settle their nerves to get a little confidence to get off get off to a good start.
Yeah.
And as you mentioned, the way that these three other matchups have gone in favor of Monticello for Warren, that's exactly what you need to do to just try to set the tone.
The last thing you want to do is to try to play from behind.
And if you can jump out here and get something going offensively, it's a great way to start things off.
Three oh, count that one you see right outside did not come across the plate.
I thought that was a three.
I missed the strike in there I had 300 my sheet.
There was obviously a strike it.
So we're now at three one trying to work that lead off walk for Haven Johnson fouls that one off.
Too good to not swing at that one.
That was going to catch the edge of the plate.
So we got a full count for our first batter of the game.
If you're just joining us you didn't miss anything because we had a 15 minute delay just to get the field in shape.
Big storm rolled through Hot Springs early this morning.
Nice little slap out to left field.
And Warren gets exactly what they wanted.
A leadoff hit from Haven Johnson, well executed.
First at bat for the lady Jackson.
When you look at what Haley Johnson was able to do, build herself a full count and get that base hit into left field, it feels like maybe.
Okay, it's just the first batter of the game, but at the same time that's, you know, 5 to 6 pitches there for Addie Frazier already in the circle.
And you just want to be attack and aggressive and not be in an easy out.
And that's exactly what Haven Johnson was able to do.
We've got a great look at behind the plate.
And I tell you what that ball that was going to be a strike and it was right on the edge.
And she just flicked it out there like a good hitter.
Should you hit it where it's pitched?
It was pitched to the outside corner and just flicked her bat out there and deposited into left field, right in front of Ross Reilly.
Milton here trying to get down the bunt.
That one falls into foul territory just out of the reach.
Milton the good hitter.
Yeah.
382 on the season.
She's got 11 doubles and just a little too high a couple of home runs on the season.
And we've got speed on the basepaths with Tavon Johnson.
She's got eight stolen bases this season.
Hailey Miller waiting for her to turn on the on deck circle, hoping to see a couple of Lady Jacks in front of her on the bases.
Came with the high strike.
She got her swinging.
Couldn't lay off that one.
Too tempting.
Addie Frazier trying to settle down a little outside and that went a little high and outside.
That's a good eye.
There's again.
She's just trying to get things going, see if she can, if anything, get her teammate over into scoring position at second base.
Can imagine right now the emotions, the adrenaline that's flowing through every single player on this field and in the batter's box.
Well, when you knew that both of these teams after the regional tournament, when you looked at the state tournament bracket, we're on opposite sides and there was an opportunity for them to meet again.
And as that opportunity became a reality, you've been waiting all week for this game and then you're the first game in the morning.
You know, they were up early and then it was a little bit of a weather delay.
I mean, they have been itching to get this game going.
And man, I can't imagine the way that both of these teams feel in their dugouts.
Frazier gets her first strike out of the day.
Nice pitch there on the outside.
Just couldn't get out to it and little, little late on it.
Frazier came with a little heat on the outside grill.
Really good pitcher's pitch.
Next up is, Bailey Miller.
Miller in the three hole hits, 389.
Got four home runs on the season, 28 RBI, 22.
Like that number?
That was my number growing up.
Still use 22 whenever do anything.
A little double deuce.
I was I was 13, but then there was an older girl ahead of me who would always wear 13, so I took 31 instead.
So lucky number 13, Yeah.
13 for well, I grew up a Dolphins fan.
Big Dan Marino fans, I got it.
That worked out well.
And then I was able to rotate those numbers because I'm a big Mike Piazza fan too growing up.
So that worked out well.
So perfect.
Depending on the upperclassmen around me, it was I was either wearing 13 or 31.
I think he call that a strike.
It is.
It's a very delayed strike call is.
So I believe we got A11 count here on Bailey Miller.
One down and here.
Leadoff runner still on first base.
Booker Mays is behind the plate today Glenn Gilbert's over at first base.
Si Glenn right there.
And, Bryant Tackett lined up in the middle of the field case.
There is a stolen base attempt.
You talk about being aggressive early on for Warren, and I'm kind of surprised.
Haven Johnson still standing on first base.
She leads this team with eight stolen bases, and she's got some speed.
And I thought maybe you'd want to see if you could just test the arm of Ashley Hale's back there early, just to see if he could set the tone as a swing and a miss for another strikeout.
Frazier gets her second K back to back swinging strikes on back to back high outside pitches.
She is, working that fastball right there.
You see it just a little bit off the plate.
Little high.
That is a great pitch for Addie Frazier Charlie Wardlaw up next.
Wardlaw looking for a little two out magic.
She's hitting over 400.
Only one on this morning.
Line up hitting over 400.
Obviously she was our player to watch.
And I loved one of the things that they gave us when they gave us some of their stats and information was little blurbs about softball memories.
And Charlie said her favorite softball memory was hitting a grand slam in the regionals to help them advance.
Let's see if she can get that back going early.
Here was.
That's a memory she'll never forget.
Oh no.
She may be 51 day and still can talk about that day and that that big swing.
Not many people have Grand Slams to their name, so absolutely no Grand Slam here.
But she would love a two run shot to get Warren off to a great start here in the first inning.
But Addie Frazier comes inside, ties her up.
Where I. Would also leads the team I think you said that 38 RBI best on the team.
Ten doubles as well.
And that's something when you look up and down this lineup.
We talked about Reilly Milton.
She has 11 doubles.
Natalie Hargrave who we'll see later in the lineup along with Brooklynn McVey, also with 12 doubles.
I mean, they can get a hold of the ball and show off that speed.
You've got to be able to respect that.
If you're Monticello and you know you do because you know this team like the back of your hand.
So Frazier comes inside and fouls it off out of territory.
Keep the count at one and two.
One strike away from striking out the side.
Well, that would be huge.
We've talked about Warren setting the tone.
How about Monticello setting the tone defensively?
If you can have that kind of execution by Frazier in the circle, the strike out these batters to start things off.
That's a great way to bring some momentum into the dugout to get your offense going back to that high strike, Wardlaw was able to foul that one back.
I. Love how they have the crowd split.
You got a definite orange section of Warren over here.
And then you got the blue of Monticello and loud out in the outfield covered out their right field.
It's standing room only.
Yeah.
There's no question who you're rooting for out there with what you're wearing.
And it's pretty cool to see both of these small towns well-represented here for a softball state championship.
And as someone who played the game growing up, I love to see it.
And I think something that I've able to talk, I've been able to talk to with people who cover the sport in the state.
Was both of these teams down from, you know, that southeastern part of the state where when you look at the foray, you're used to seeing a prairie grove or a gentry in these championship games just shows you the growth of the sport down in that area of the state, and you'd love to see it.
But no doubt about the passion, you can hear it and you can see it with the way this place is packed.
They came early.
They were there were lines as a draw to walk.
What a what a great at bat from Wardlaw.
Down one two in the county.
Fouls off some pitches.
Works the count and gets the walk.
Moves Johnson into scoring position.
Two outs.
Amber Johnson coming up now.
What else am I got.
You know I try to get here by the hour before the game yesterday I got here an hour before and just cruised right on in.
Hardly you know.
No.
Yeah no issues whatsoever.
And I got here at the same time and parking lot was full.
The line which there wasn't even a line yesterday.
The line was probably thinking, to my golf knowledge, probably about 50 yards, maybe 60 yards long.
Wow.
Yeah, yeah.
From the gate all the way to the road.
And, it was it was a mix.
Yeah.
Lord fans in Monticello, you say golf knowledge.
I think that in football field terms, yeah, well, there's half a football field.
What it was.
Yeah, definitely was a football field goal.
That shows you how my brain works.
We talked about it and it's a good look right there at Booker Mays.
He's behind the plate.
We got a, I think we got a pitch runner.
There's Glenn Gilbert over there at first base.
Brian Tackett will be, moved over.
Now that they're runners on second base.
He's down the third base line, and Bryant.
So two on two out.
Member Johnson with a chance to make some noise.
She flies out to left field.
Center field.
They collide, but the center fielder makes the catch.
No problems there for Jefferson.
And the rally is extinguished for Warren Monticello coming up to bat.

Welcome back to Majestic Park.
But look there at the lawn.
Lumberjack fans on the other side, the Monticello fans.
No score.
Go to the bottom of the first inning.
Good.
Look at our Warren lady Jags pitcher Brooklynn McVeigh.
She has been their go to pitcher in the circle this season.
18 and seven.
Record.
First up for Monticello is Libby Kingston.
The shortstop a senior.
Anderson takes a look at the outside pitch.
McVeigh seven strikeouts on the season to 55 walks and a 4.65 ERA.
And she's trying to do just what Addie Frazier was able to do and leave the scoreboard with a zero.
Usually a really good control pitcher, but I'll give it to nerves.
Those first three pitches were could not find the strike zone, but settled in and fired one right down the middle for her first strike of the game and it out to left field.
Milton.
There.
Easy out.
Up, up.
You like that?
If you're McVeigh, you trust your defense?
Of course.
And so if you can get them to pop the ball up, trust your defense has your back.
We'll take that all day long.
They spent some time rolling up those sleeves after that out getting good and loose finds the strike zone for her first pitch to bliss.
Becker, junior second baseman.
When we talk about the offensive power, something that's a huge key for them to just really lean on, how about blitz Becker hitting 448 as a batting average?
That is impressive.
She's just got three home runs but 24 RBI.
And on base percentage of 463.
I mean, up and down this Monticello lineup, you're going to find power.
Fly ball out to right field.
Deep right field.
Actually Chase Hargrave back pretty far.
But she makes the catch.
And two up two down.
So a little power there going opposite field.
I thought it was just a lazy fly ball out to right field.
Bank Hargrave did too.
And it kind of caught her off guard.
She had to kind of backpedal a few steps.
Ashley Hills, up next, senior catcher for Monticello.
Lady Billies looking for two out.
Hit by.
A nice pitch inside.
Fouls it down the left field line.
Well, we talked about Hale's.
One thing she can do is hit the long ball.
She leads this team with 13 home runs this season.
And so you have to respect that power.
Setting up on the outside corner batting 481.
That is just so impressive.
I think that's why they're choosing to work the outside part of the plate and hold it right back to the pitcher.
And McVey takes care of it.
McVey goes one, two, three in the first.
We'll head to the second inning and see if the Lady Jacks can get on the scoreboard.

Top of the second.
It is worn in Monticello.
Lady jacks back up.
They had a couple of baserunners in the first inning and a single and a walk, but could not get on the board.
Natalie Hargrave leading things off for Warren, 365 hitter, 12 doubles on the season.
Addie Frazier looks like she wants a new ball or at least dry that one off.
Understandable.
Hargrave, a junior.
Right up.
Love it.
Every pitch, there's a loud reaction.
It doesn't matter if it's a ball or strike.
Somebody is excited.
Can't wait to see the numbers of how many people are here for this game.
That was that was that one off to the right side coming up?
Yeah.
It is packed over there, which is really just cool to see a 10:00 game between these two teams.
As you mentioned, just miles apart from each other.
16 miles.
I saw Coach Bo Embry in the parking lot.
In fact, he was helping me get my car through the mass of people in line that was popped up.
See if we have a play down the third base line.
No, and he is like West, y'all don't understand.
You know, coach, he's got that, accent.
Like, you guys don't get it.
You don't know what you're about to see.
I'm like, well, you tell me what we're about to see.
He said, This is Warren in Monticello.
We're right down the road from each other.
We're 15 miles apart.
When these two teams play, we have to shut the door.
So it doesn't matter if it's basketball.
Football.
We have to close it down because, you know, you can't get any more people inside.
That's right.
It's like you're about to see that here.
I love it, I love it, and I love to that.
You know there's a little bit of a berm back there behind the outfield wall for the spectators.
And so they are surrounded by fans on all sides.
Great.
Battling ALS off another one.
Got the rain jackets out.
Here's just a little a little rain is falling.
Yeah, just a little sprinkle right now.
Yeah a little harder than a sprinkle.
Umbrella coming out.
It's not going to scare anybody off.
That morning Monticello flared out to right field.
Ferguson's there.
Makes the catch.
Up for his fellow fellows comes up next.
Second baseman.
And you know these two programs would have played in snow, sleet, rain.
It's nothing's keeping them away.
I just want to say they could have made it a diamond.
And Willmar right there in between Warren and Monticello.
Don't be giving people ideas over there.
These girls want to play.
They will come.
Was our field of dreams for the year.
For a title.
I love this park and this facility here.
Yeah.
Majestic Park.
50.
Blow those horns the entire game if I can.
They keep it up.
That's.
That is impressive.
I think that's come in two from the Warren.
Yeah.
A student section that they've created over there in the stands.
I believe.
I think that's where they're coming in.
If that's the case.
No, those students aren't stopping anytime soon.
I'll tell you.
When I walked in at nine this morning, they were blowing it at nine.
So they've already been there hour and a half.
There they are.
We're just in the second inning.
Let's see if they keep their can.
Keep it up.
That's a good pitch.
And high outside.
Just tough to get to.
So here's a fun fact that I was reading that I thought was really cool.
And you can look at that student section again.
Some of those guys for Warren look like football players, which we all know the history of Warren football, right.
Well, the past three years, the softball team has been up at 7 a.m.
doing summer workouts alongside the football team Monday through Friday.
And then they also train in the weight room with them during their dedicated lifting time.
So the softball team and the football team at Warren have been really close, and it's really cool to see those guys out there supporting their fellow classmates.
Would not miss this for the world.
Frazier picks up her third strikeout of the game.
Brees fellows goes down swinging.
Now it's Pressley.
Reap.
Oh.
Fouled off behind us.
Feels like the rain's letting up a little bit.
Not as hard.
Still misting a little sprinkle.
You see Frazier wiping your hand right there for sure.
Yeah.
She's going to have to.
Yeah, she's got that towel behind her.
Came with some offspeed stuff.
That was nice.
Reap well, ahead of that one.
Oh.
Oh.
Frazier trying to paint the corner.
Trying to paint that outside corner.
She like that pitch, but just a little bit outside.
I think it was.
It was outside.
Got a great angle from our camera behind home plate.
It is set up perfectly behind home plate.
They tried to frame it up nicely though.
Yeah, no abs, but, I have abs in my head and that was a ball.
Just missed the missed the play.
One more returned on that one.
Nice leg, but it was foul.
It.
Frazier trying to get another strike out.
She got the corner that time.
There it is.
Two strikeouts for Frazier in this inning.
Two in the first inning.
Still scoreless.
We'll head to the bottom of the second.

Bottom of the second inning.
I'm Wes Moore.
She's a little orange.
It's worn in Monticello, still scoreless.
Addie Frazier has worked a couple of scoreless frames, and now Brooklynn McVey is trying to join her well inside to Addie Frazier.
Speaking of, not only has Frazier been able to have some success inside the circle, she is also had success inside the batter's box as well.
Batting 459 12 home runs, just one home run shy of the lead, helped by, well, now she might tie it.
There it is, on demand number 13 West.
And that is a one nothing lead for Monticello.
The pitcher helping herself Hattie Frazier getting it done in the circle.
And now at the plate.
I'll tell you why.
Frazier showed a lot of emotion to in the second inning with that strikeout.
There's some more emotion coming from Addie Frazier.
She just got Ahold of that one, took that one into dead center field.
And man, all Joanie Jeffers could do was watch that one fall right behind the fence.
Oh, right.
Center field.
Oh, look, you can tell those weren't the Monticello fans.
There wasn't a whole lot of celebrating with those fans right there.
Probably want to throw that ball back.
The Warren fans kind of just looked at it.
Had a Kiley Lane up next.
That was a Polk two.
I'm told it's 225 to center field.
Oh my goodness I just popped off the bat didn't it really kind of popped out of McVeigh's hands.
May see a little moisture there that that is still falling.
It's raining a little harder now than it was a few minutes ago, unfortunately.
So yeah.
Rain a factor in the grip on this ball is clearly an issue right now for Brooklyn.
McVey may need change.
Ball's out and that's what they're going to do after it's hit the turf a couple of times.
It's not so much keeping your hand dry.
You can wipe it off on that towel.
You see you're doing that.
But the ball's wet.
Yeah.
That's going to help you.
Go to that rosin day doing anything they can to just stay dry.
Get a good grip.
But right now McVey is just going to have to find something that's working for because that was at least three balls low bouncing in front of the plate.
Kiley Lane takes first base.
I have a little discussion trying to wipe the ball off off of her towel and go the rosin.
Whatever it takes.
Joanie Jeffers Up next, freshman center fielder just catches the corner.
I think we've seen now, Booker Mays is going to give that outside part of the plate.
These pitchers, once they figure that out, they'll just start hammering that.
That one slips out of her hand again, bounces in.
Nobody out.
Runner on first solo home run for Maddie Frazier.
Our first scoring of the game to lead off the bottom of the second inning.
Jefferson I a little too outside.
That was it.
Oh, the delayed kidding strike zone is a delayed strike call of Booker Mays.
Gotcha.
We're going to work that corner Roe my goodness.
From that angle where we were watching from center field I thought that was maybe a ball outside.
But my mistake he's going to give that corner.
Maybe that strike zone gets a little larger with the conditions knowing that it's tough to pitch right now.
Maybe it expands that one just a little inside.
McVeigh trying to finish off a hitter.
And she does.
That was a nice low pitch.
Very tough swing.
Can't go anywhere with first base occupied.
So that is a strikeout for McVeigh.
Mia Scoggin, the first baseman comes up next.
Sophomore.
Right handed hitter.
Look at Kylie Lane over at first base, trying to move her over in a scoring position.
They tries that outside corner again.
Not this time.
They constantly go into that towel.
Hope they got a lot of dry towels in the dugout to switch that out with.
I'm sure that they do.
They probably came prepared.
Still raining.
But the good news is the skies are lighting lighting up a little bit.
Not as dark as it was a couple minutes ago.
They called that one a strike.
Again, a little bit of a delay call here is throwing me off just a tad.
Threw off the fans to hit that shot.
The whole not going to be played.
Nice base hit from Mia Stocking.
Johnson just couldn't come up with it on that backhand.
Would have been tough play anyway.
Throw all the way across and yeah, try to get the speedy scoggin.
Yeah that was a good stop though.
But you're absolutely right.
Having to reach across her body to try to stop, she would have had to adjust and make that play.
It would have everything would have had been perfect.
The back end, the throw.
And, even then, I don't know if she would have been able to get her.
Still a good way to at least get that ball down on the ground and get it stopped and not have it roll into left field.
You know what we're waiting on here?
Trying to figure that out.
What if they're trying to get a new supply of balls that are dry?
I. Think we're about ready now.
Booker Mays is getting his mask back on and bringing the batter in.
Two on, one out.
Monticello, looking to add to their lead inside.
Fouls it off down the line.
McVeigh trying to work out of a little bit of a jam limit this inning to just that one run.
One run won't kill you.
Want to avoid those crooked numbers today?
And that's been the issue playing Monticello.
Monticello put up 15 and one, game 12.
And another fact the least amount of runs Warren held Monticello 2A7 in a matchup.
They lost that one 7 to 1.
Really?
Two, big Monticello victories out of the three.
There was a 1211 a game.
I bet that would have been fun to watch.
Yeah, nail biter back and forth.
These two battling in that one run game I'm sure it would have been.
And they want to keep it a one run game here and see if they can go in and do some offensively.
If you're Warren.
Big at bat right here three one count Ross fouls it off.
You got a chance here at the bottom of the lineup to get a couple outs and avoid getting back to the top of the lineup.
Libby Kingston, the senior shortstop, would love to get another chance to bat in this inning.
Got her swinging.
Nice Off-speed pitch.
McVey pulling the string.
That was huge.
Needed that.
Yeah.
And I think for McVay that just really helps her confidence.
Clearly having just a little bit of an issue with the ball with the grip because of the rain a few balls down low and the turf bouncing in front of the plate.
But she's been able to have two strikeouts in this inning after that home run.
And that's big from your pitcher in the circle.
Foul ball for strike one.
Grace Ferguson, right fielder.
We've seen her make a play already out in the field.
Now she wants to make a play at the plate.
The clutch.
Two out hit.
Sophomore steps back into the batter's box.
They get you to the ground to short to store it over to third for the easy four out.
And McVey does it.
She gets out of the jam.
Just limits Monticello to the solo home run from Addie Frazier.
But we got the scoring started off with a bang with a big hit from Frazier.
We'll head to the third when we come back.

Out there for the show.
And I was like, oh my God.
Yeah.
Welcome back.
And it's time for trivia now in West.
Here's what I got for you today.
Who holds the Arkansas high school record for the most total bases in a single game?
Whoa!
Most total bases in a single game.
How about that for a 12?
For I'm about 1516.
Total bases, maybe 20.
Okay I mean four for four, three home runs, a triple, a double.
It's quite a game.
This young lady had I got your answer for you coming up.
Let our audience kind of think on that one.
I have no clue.
I don't even have a clue on how many total bases she had in the game.
You were kind of close.
You were?
Yeah, you were flirting with it.
All right, Warren, up to bat.
We got McVay, the pitcher up looking to help herself.
Wouldn't that be cool?
Eddie Frazier led off the last inning with a solo home run to help herself and McVay would love to do that.
Yes she would.
Think she had settled just getting on base and scoring a run a little bit later in the inning.
Well, outside Mcvay's got two home runs on the season so far so she can hit the long ball if she wants.
But you're absolutely right.
A base hit works as well.
You're just down by one nice hit or two.
365 average.
And a good high.
Now we're seeing, McVay had some problems on inside the circle with the moisture.
Now Frazier a little bit of an issue.
Yes.
Takes a little something off that one and gets the strike.
Yeah.
That was a really good pitch right down the middle.
You knew that McVay probably wasn't going to swing with A30 count.
And then get sort of chase on that outside corner.
And just like that look at Frazier getting herself back into this count.
Full count here.
May have been ball four but we've seen that pitch given at times.
That went too close to take.
Yeah.
And I think the way that they've been calling it too, you just have to battle.
And if you don't like it, at least try to foul it off.
Frazier has been attacking that part of the zone.
Really the first two innings.
McVay with full count.
Fouls.
That one off came a little off speed and got her way in front of it.
She's battling pitcher versus pitcher.
He'll do it again.
Warren trying to get a base runner.
They didn't have one in the second.
Went 1 to 3.
They had two on in the first.
Unable to capitalize on that opportunity Brooklyn McVay trying to see if she can get on base.
Bring up the top of the lineup.
Back up.
Oh yeah.
Rain has lightened up at very light rain right now.
There you go.
Walk.
She walked the walk.
Good at bat from Brooklyn McVey.
Very patient.
Love the approach.
And again, that brings up the top of the lineup.
And we talked about Haven Johnson.
She had a single that she got to just poked into shallow left field.
Her first at bat went out and just.
Took the pitch.
She was given.
Now she's got a runner on to work with.
That's a great example of how the lot of times that nine hole hitter, it's like your second leadoff hitter.
And she did a great job of getting on base and says a lot about McVay and the athleticism.
A lot of times you'll see a pitch runner for the pitcher.
No she's still out there.
She's over on first base.
She's got three stolen bases to her name.
She's got some speed.
Johnson looking for her second hit.
Chases after the high stuff.
Yeah.
And I think maybe this is just Johnson pressing just a little bit.
Both of those.
A little bit of a rise.
Ball swinging just underneath of it.
When she gave that look after that swing, she was a little upset with herself.
Ooh that one getting away from Hales a high one from Frazier.
I think she was trying to see if she'd go for the high ball again.
And then just letting go a little too late.
That's going to allow McVay to head over to second base.
Takes away the force.
One two count.
Johnson would love to move her over to third base.
Hit something on the right side of the field.
She went opposite field with her.
Hit something on the ground to the right.
Couldn't move the runner over to third.
That's what she does.
Tries to do, but she gets even better.
A single that's going to score from.
We are all tied up as McVey and the wheels come sliding in safely.
What a great piece of baserunning there by McVey.
When she saw that ball was taken into right field, she didn't hesitate.
Got on her wheels.
Turned third base.
A good throw attempt over there by Ferguson, but just not in time.
And just like that West, we got a tie ball game again.
How about Haven Johnson two for two on the day.
Also two to battle.
You know she was down oh two in the count.
Kind of settled herself back in.
Saw a pitch that she liked.
And just like her first At-Bat sending it to left field.
This one.
Turn on it and send it in right.
See if Warren gets aggressive with Johnson over at first base.
Just gets a second quickly, and there's still no way to get out to left field.
Chases the left fielder.
Ross back.
She makes the catch.
First pitch swinging for Riley Milton.
Bailey Miller up for Warren.
I like the aggressiveness, though.
See what?
See you pitch.
You think you can do something with it?
Just got under it a tad.
That's right.
And now this time, you're seeing the second time through the lineup feeling a little bit more comfortable.
Even though you've probably faced Addie Frazier multiple times in the past, just being able to get through that lineup one time here in the state championship game night, feel a little comfortable about what you can do at the plate.
There swinging.
That's three straight pitches.
Warren has swung at.
You know, sometimes as a coaching staff, you have a little talk with your hitters and say, look, okay, she she's still under strikes.
Let's be aggressive and tack early in the count.
Let's go get our pitch to hit early before we get down in the count and have to swing at her pitches.
Now here we go.
Oh, Addie Frazier talking about her pitches.
Let's see if she goes outside here.
You called it.
Good job there by Miller to just foul that one off.
If I'm Frazier, I'm going right back to that spot, though.
Maybe a little higher.
That's where the majority of her strikeouts have been high.
And outside.
She tried it.
Hailey Miller fouls off another one.
And I know we're looking up here in the red.
I think the rain is again like you mentioned, it's definitely led up.
Not raining as hard as it was in the bottom of the second.
I can't see anything right now.
Yeah.
The only thing we have is dripping off.
Just, you know, the the overhang that we have in front of us.
And it's getting brighter here at Hot Spring.
So that's good news.
But we're expecting and not down with stuff like this all day on and off.
Yeah.
Hopefully no thunderstorms.
Yeah.
That that's just what we don't need.
Right.
Keep the heavy stuff is okay.
We can we can handle a little rain every now and then.
I'm inside with it this time.
It's a good pitch, you know, outside, outside, outside.
Then come back inside.
Try to tie her up.
Now.
Bailey Miller was able to get a little something.
Doing a great job battling here.
Frazier trying to bounce back after a leadoff walk in the wild pitch and a single came too far inside.
Frazier thought she had that one.
Yeah.
Waited for that delay call that she did not get.
She gave out a little scream after that one.
Did she like that pitch is there outside pitch, but just slips it into the gap all the way to the wall.
Let's see if Johnson can score.
They're going to her.
Coming around.
No play at the plate Warren takes the lead on the double from Bailey Miller.
Excellent execution at the plate battling off the pitch.
She didn't like finally sees once she does and hits it over the second baseman's head.
Runs all the way to the wall.
Great piece heading there and an RBI for Miller.
Well done.
Once it went all the way the fence and had it.
Just a little bit of an issue for Jeffers picking it up the first time.
That gave Johnson all the time she needed to come around and score.
One with their first lead of the game and student section there for the Lady Jacks.
Loving every bit of this.
Now it's a good time to have a little conference inside the circle.
Just settle everybody down.
That's the thing.
She can tell us we're going to score runs.
Well, that's what we do.
We we're going to score.
Let's limit the damage.
Let's get out of this inning.
Yeah.
You also got to just remind Frazier you've got four strikeouts already.
You're at 65 pitches.
You're pitching well.
Continue just to hit your spots.
The rain is let up.
Hopefully she can get a better grip on the ball and come back here.
See if you can help get Monticello out of the inning.
It's Charlie Wardlaw to swing at the first pitch.
Miller on second.
Try to add to their scoring here in this inning.
Bounces in.
Good job by Hales keeping it in front of her and Johnson can't go anywhere.
If I'm Frazier, I just still see if I can continue to go to that outside pitch.
Like you said, a little high and outside right there on that edge of the plate.
There's that outside just so number two, the first baseman.
Scoggin makes the play.
Steps on the bag.
But that does allow Miller to go to third.
Now, it's going to be important for Hales to keep everything in front of her.
Don't want a wild pitch to give Warren a run right here.
No, you don't number.
Johnson flew out to center field her first at bat.
Sends this one into shallow left center.
Just like that.
Monticello gets out the inning, but West Warren's got the lead.
Nice little conversation paid off.
That seemed to settle Frazier down.
Warren picks up two, though.
They take the lead 2 to 1.
We'll head to the bottom of the third.
Stick around.

The electric cooperatives of Arkansas.
All right.
West.
At the top of the inning, I asked you who holds the Arkansas high school record for most total bases in a single game.
And you're kind of right about right around that.
It was Madeline Gates.
She had 20 for Monticello back in 2010.
I think I said 20 at one point, two at number 18, maybe 20.
So you were you were flirting around it.
But yeah, that's why I said you were close.
You were close.
That's that's impressive though.
20 total bases in a single game.
What do you think about like three home runs?
Maybe four.
That would be 16, a couple doubles.
I'd like to go back and look at that book.
All right.
Bottom of the third.
Monticello looking to answer.
And they're off to a really good start as Kingston.
Just slaps it the other way for a leadoff hit.
Libby Kingston, the senior shortstop, gets them off to a good start.
Well, that's what you want right after Warren is able to take a 2 to 1 lead, your offense turns around, gets out of that inning and bounces back with a base hit to have the tying run on first base.
After a scoreless first inning, we've had some action.
Monticello got a solo home run from Addie Frazier in the second.
Warren responds with two in the third.
Now Monticello looking to jump right back.
That one's inside.
Nick got her blitz.
Becker hit by the pitch.
So yeah, Monticello's got a little something going here in the third.
Well, you said after nothing in the first things got going.
We knew it was it was only a matter of time.
But the tween these two teams that we're going to start seeing some base hits.
We've seen a home run already and some really good softball played here between these two rivals.
Ashley Hales up next for Monticello.
Senior catcher.
Been watching her behind the plate doing a good job.
They set up outside and that's where that one went.
But it was too far outside.
We talked about the home run.
The one that we saw from Addie Frazier that tied Ashley Hales.
She's got 13 on the season, so they both now have 13.
There's another one of those wide strikes.
Telling you I'd work that side of the plate every time.
If they're going to give it to you.
So you can stay right there.
One to switch out that ball.
Foul ball back into play.
It's going to be wet.
Rain has stopped.
That's the great news.
But the turf still going to be a little wet.
And that ball rolls around.
It's going to pick up a lot of moisture.
Be slick and tough to throw.
So McVey gets a new ball and she's ready to work.
Look I'm set up way outside.
But she that one must have had still a little moisture.
Something didn't work with that, grip said she was set up the catcher, Wardlaw, was set up probably two feet outside.
Just trying to get Hales to chase that ball almost hit Hale's.
Same thing.
You're sitting up way outside.
It's coming inside.
It runs the count for yeah.
McVey trying to find a little bit of that control.
Still here.
Tough with the ball in the water.
That's three in a row.
Same exact thing that what she wanted walked a basis for.
So you've had a base hit into left field a hit by pitch and a walk to start this inning.
And one thing you don't need to give Monticello is opportunities and free bases.
They do enough offensively to get the job done, giving them free passes.
It's not going to help you.
Addie Frazier up hit a home run her last time up.
She's got the bases for first pitch high and outside.
Was Addie the one you were telling us about?
The great memory of the Grand Slam that I believe was on Warren?
That was.
Yeah, that was that was Charlie.
Got that outside strike call that time.
But Addie can add a grand slam to her 13 home runs.
I think she'd be okay with it.
We know she's got the power.
After taking it over the right center field fence chases on that one.
That was low and outside.
She's just stepping in the box, ready to hit.
And sometimes everything looks good when it leaves the pitcher's hand.
That one, I think, was a little bit more of an excitement swing.
McVey looking for a big strike out gets her to chase after that one high and outside.
It'd be huge if she can get that strikeout here against Frazier.
Get the first out of the inning, take away that offensive threat.
Though it feels like everyone in this lineup is a little bit of an offensive threat, but you've already watched Frazier like you mentioned, hit one over the wall.
McVey comes down to third out at third throw home gets away.
Nobody will be able to advance so.
But Monticello ties it up on the hard hit ball by Frazier to third.
Another RBI for Frazier.
Up up yeah.
Good job by Frazier there to get that RBI and tie things up.
And I don't hate that play by Miller.
Steps on the base tries to go home.
The throw just a little out of the reach of Charlie Wardlaw.
It also would have been a really tough play for her because since you got that out at third base, that takes away the force.
And so Wardlaw would have had to tag the runner and not just step on the base, but still a smart heads up play there.
Yeah, got the easy out.
Maybe throwing over to first would have been a better chance for your double play?
I think so, I think so.
Yeah.
Runners on first and second and another delay.
Just getting softballs is what we're doing right now.
It's, they're having to cycle through a bunch of different balls because of the moisture on the field.
And every time the ball hits the turf, they're trying to replace it to give the pitcher McVeigh.
In this case, the best opportunity to get a grip.
Kylee laid up now left handed hitter.
Little outside and low.
Just worn out.
McVeigh looking to get out of a jam and keep this tied.
Good pitch from McVeigh.
Just a little outside.
Could get Lane to chase that one.
It's good.
Eye from Lane.
Yeah, but good pitch to there by McVeigh.
I continue to just go outside and see if you can get them to chase.
But four pitch walk loads the bases once again.
I'll bring up Joni Jeffers, freshman center fielder.
She struck out her first at bat.
Big spot here for the freshman.
A chance to make this a big inning.
Oh, that one hitter that bounced in and hitter McVeigh completely lost the grip of that ball.
So the second batter to be hit in this inning control a big issue.
You think about it.
Two hit batters, two walks, just one single.
And we talked about not giving Monticello free bases.
And unfortunately with a walk and two hit by pitches, 32 walks to hit by pitches, it just feels like.
They're capitalizing on on Warren's mistakes here.
And this just feels like a pivotal moment in this game.
You can get out of this inning quickly and stop the damage with a double play.
Or honestly, the Lady Billies could open up the floodgates with bases loaded and one out, and this could get out of hand quickly.
Yeah, huge moment in this game at the bottom of the lineup, you know, and McVeigh was in the similar situation with a couple runners on in the last inning and got to the bottom of the lineup.
And she got out of the jam.
She's going to need to do something very similar here.
Looks like the sun starting to peek out, which is a wonderful sight to see here at Majestic Park.
It looks like we're making some adjustments here to the line up on Monticello side.
Bases loaded here is, I guess, a Warren fan yelling play ball!
The Monticello offense tonight.
Upset about that.
It does feel like there have been some long delays and you combined getting all the balls up and stuff and some changes that have been made.
So just making sure everyone's on the same page.
But it does still kill a little bit of the momentum.
Look at Addie Frazier over at third.
Mia Scoggin ready to, hit up.
Actually, I think they have to be a pinch runner right now.
That's still a six, I believe.
No, sorry.
Yes.
It looks like 24 into the game.
Was running.
That was part of what we were doing.
I think they were announcing the pitcher on her.
Yeah.
1024 I can't see it's a tough to pick that up.
High ball.
It's like 26.
So that's Lexi Bowman the freshman over there pinch running there for Frazier.
Let's head out to right center field.
Bloopers go to score.
Run.
Nice job of hitting by Mia Scoggin with the RBI single.
Well placed there.
She was able to just pop that one up in a no man's land, and it just drops there where the grass starts, it gets the job done.
Scoggin in is the, Or the pitch runner in gets the score comes across.
Ross looks at that one.
It's a strike.
It's a good pitch there by McVey.
With it out to short centerfield.
No problem for Johnson.
She comes in run tag.
Here's the play at the plate and she is safe.
Slides in sleeper.
It's a good throw attempt there by Johnson.
Wardlaw had to catch it a little bit high I think maybe if it was a little bit lower she might have been able to get the tag at time.
But a bang bang play there at home.
Good baserunning there by Lane.
And now it is a three run lead.
On a solo a four in this third inning.
Started it off with a single from Kingston, then hit pitch or hit batter walk, fielder's choice.
Another walk.
Just confirming it.
After a little conversation, she was safe.
Another batter hit and another single sac fly.
And that's how you get four runs in the inning.
Yeah, again, opportunities just given to Monticello by those walks and hit by pitch, and you string in some base hits in between.
It's a recipe for success.
Ferguson.
Ball's lost.
Diving catch not made.
And the inning gets worse for Warren.
I think we were just talking about the sun coming out, and I feel like the shortstop lost the ball in the sun, looking straight up into the sun.
She couldn't find it.
Milton kind of couldn't find it either going over there trying to catch the ball.
But again, we talked about this.
Could either go one way or could get out of hand quickly.
And right now, Monticello capitalizing on everything.
There's another single.
Oh, what a catch from Hargrave.
That's huge.
Put a star by that.
Remember that.
That saved possibly two runs.
All right, we'll add things up.
We'll come back and see if Warren can cut into this lead.
We'll head to the fourth.

Welcome back to the four day state championship game here between Warren and Monticello.
I want to introduce you to our Arkansas TV student, all star McKenzie Whalen from Pea Ridge.
She is a junior with a 3.92 GPA, wants to attend college, play softball, and major in Sports psychology West.
So congratulations to Mackenzie Whalen, our student all star of the game.
Well, Monticello answers with the crooked number.
They put up five in the third.
They were down 2 to 1.
But now their lead 6 to 2.
And Warren looking to cut into that deficit.
Nice movement.
Lot of movement on that pitch I think Hargrove thought maybe she was going to be hit by it.
Well we've talked about outside of the second inning.
Warren's been able to get baserunners and that's what they need to do.
And it'll start here with Natalie Hargrave, who was able to get that one through the right side of the field.
Solid base, knocked by Hargrave.
I got to fix my poor penmanship, I said Hargrove, but it's Hargrave.
My apologies.
Yeah, that was nice.
Hit right up the middle.
Solid contact.
That's a great way to get the inning started.
Brees fellows up now.
Brees goes right back up the middle.
Knocked down by the pitcher.
Throw it first.
Not in time.
So back to back hits for Warren.
Great job by Brees.
Fellows to just really get down that baseline quickly.
Hargrave was over at second.
Not enough time to try to turn the double play safe at first.
And this is exactly how you start a rally.
You get back into that dugout.
You don't let the five runs that Monticello scored in the bottom of the third affect you.
And this offense has come out and jumped out to a really great start.
Outside corner given on that pitch to Reed.
Badie trying to settle down.
One outside Addie Frazier.
It's been a big part of this offense.
And they're inside the circle.
Couldn't make the play defensively.
She got the glove on it but just couldn't catch it.
Yeah.
He gets something to hit right in the middle but pops it up.
Center fielder is going to call everybody off.
And Jeffers makes the play up.
Brooklyn McVey with the chance to help herself out now.
Yeah.
She walked her first time at bat in a battle against Frazier.
That was a great at bat.
Believe she was down one two and fouled off some pitches and got three straight walk or three straight balls.
Looks at ball one there.
And again she's got an opportunity now.
She started off the top of the third.
Now here in the fourth with runners on trying to help her team get back into this.
Looks at another ball I'm sorry.
Looks at the strike.
You got to be kidding me.
That is the most I've been staring there waiting.
That is so delayed.
My score.
She's angry at me at what's a little low.
So two.
One count.
Up till Mcvay's got a really good eye.
She sure she's a pitcher, right?
She knows the strike zone as good as anybody.
Not a little too high to swing at for her liking, but that was a strike.
Now, that one kind of right down the middle there.
Really good pitch there by Frazier to kind of freeze McVey in the box.
Two two.
Count up.
Came back with the same pitch.
And this time McVey was ready for it.
Fouled it off.
Trey looking to get on base for a second time in this game.
Oh.
Gets away from Frazier.
Runners will advance.
Both move up.
Hargrave to third.
Fellows to second.
That's the kind of stuff you want to capitalize on again, make Monticello make mistakes.
Capitalize on those mistakes.
And now you've completely taken away the force.
Move the runners.
And now two runners in scoring position for the Lady Jacks.
Ball four.
Oh.
Wow.
Warren fans will like that one.
Oh, wow.
Oh, she had worked her second straight walk.
But book Booker Mays disagrees.
Here's a good look from behind the plate.
Yeah, that's why I said the Warren fans wouldn't like that one.
It's pretty much my viewpoint.
Wow, that's a tough one.
That is a tough strike three call there.
Wow.
Even Johnson up now.
And havens two for two and a couple of singles.
A third single would be huge right now.
It would be on the other side of that, too, though.
You know, he's calling those outside pitches.
He's going to call that one again.
You have to be aggressive and just foul it off because you know he's going to call it.
Yeah, not much you can do with it except for just foul it away.
Exactly.
Goes high.
But sometimes it's not necessarily about the strike zone.
It's the umpire strike zone.
And you have to adjust as a hitter.
Yep.
Well, look, no one knows better than McVey.
Yeah, she's been taking advantage of that outside that one too.
Like three balls off the plate.
But still foul it off.
Give yourself another opportunity.
It's tough break though.
Too high.
Two on two out Warren trying to cut into the lead single here would be huge for Warren.
But Addie Frazier trying to put up a zero.
She does dang it.
And she did not want to swing at that.
You could tell Addie Frazier gets the key to end the inning.
Monticello's lead stays at six two.
Stick around.
You're watching the Centennial Bank baseball and softball championships on Arkansas TV.
Sports.
This is a bit of an odd one.
The offender had to smuggle in an antique execution device for a off.
Brian had an eye for a good deal.
You mean, did he like ripping off unsuspecting mortals?
Sure.
Brian had a disagreement with the camera guy.
I mean, this fella.
There are no other signs of physical damage.
Which suggests that the victim seemed the position willingly.

Have friends made?
Obviously, these make great championship keepsakes and an opportunity to own a piece of history.
Well, West, as we talked about Warren or Monticello, going to walk home with their first state championship in softball.
Bliss Becker up leading off the bottom of the fourth.
I just realized that Monticello batted around in the last.
You did?
Yeah, I had to do a couple changes to my scoresheet here.
Libby Kingston started things off and ended things there after they played at five to jump out to the 6 to 2 lead.
And having to make some changes to my score book change some innings around trying to go outside.
You know again we talked about that strikeout by Brooklynn McVey.
She comes back and stands in the circle.
I'm going to work that outside corner.
She did didn't get it.
She's like hey I didn't get I don't I know I don't want that call in though.
I don't blame her for trying.
To make it work.
The count even fouls or no.
That's going to be right back to the picture.
McVey.
She handles it easily.
Gets the first out of the inning.
Good job there by McVey.
And as you can kind of see Becker had to kind of reach for that.
Hit it off the end of her bat right back to the pitcher for the easy out of.
Ashley Hills up.
She walked and scored her last time up.
I think for the second straight inning.
She had a little number back to McVey in the first in the inning.
Clean first inning for McVey 123.
Looking for her second clean inning if she can get a couple of Monticello lady billies here.
Still scored one in the second and just hammered that one centerfield.
That's right off the wall.
They have a play at second, though.
She stops wisely.
Hale stops, and that'll be the longest possible single in this ballpark.
Yes it is.
She's laughing about it.
Well.
She tried to go for two.
Great job there by Haven Johnson to get that ball in quickly to second base.
And make Hale's turn around and head back to first.
Johnson did a great job since she got it.
I was like, we're going to have a play at second base, I think to get her.
And she wisely stopped.
You know, Softball's funny game.
I think that was the hardest hit ball of the game.
And it goes for single off the wall.
Addie Frazier hit a solo home run.
She hit it hard.
But that was that one.
That was that was a line drive straight to that.
That got to the wall in a hurry there like some kahit old Loy does, you know.
Or did I know unfortunately I know having to have surgery and out for the year.
I've got a lot of opinions West and I'm not going to get started on about oh we got time.
The SEC tournaments.
Let's go try to steal second throw was a little delayed.
McVey just grabbed it up.
Delay steals Hale's gets the second.
Anyway.
So a little pressure off of Frazier here.
Oh ground ball to second.
Easy play by fellows.
That'll move Hale's over to third.
Two outs.
You know that'll work, though.
And that delay still valuable in that situation because that could have been a double play opportunity there.
That got taken away with that delayed steal.
So now you've got Hales on third base with two outs and Kylie Lane who.
Has already had some success.
She's walked twice and she scored once here for the Lady Billies hit that one out to short.
Gets by the shortstop.
Johnson can't make the play and Hales will come in and score.
Kylie Lane hit it hard.
Just couldn't make the play there at short.
Though that to their lead.
Good.
Look at it.
You know, sometimes.
And I noticed this the Arkansas Kentucky series on the all turf field out there when when you get moisture on the field, the ball kind of scoots instead of you're expecting a bigger hop on this turf.
And when it gets wet, you get a little it's like it's not exactly right.
You know, it's almost like skipping rocks on a on a pond as opposed to really being able.
You've practiced probably for so long playing this sport for so long.
You know what a ball will naturally do when it bounces on dirt or bounces on grass?
This is completely different.
You got to throw all of that out the window.
Tony Jeffers up center fielder.
Setting up outside.
And that's where she pitched it.
Same thing.
Just a, not the hop.
They were expecting fellows to get miss play.
Nobody can get the out at second or first.
And that one was just kind of hit or hit a work placement.
I couldn't tell if fellows knocked it down, but then lost control.
But she got a glove on it.
Yeah, but she couldn't catch it cleanly, and it got away from her and try to make the play at second and get the fourth.
But it was just a tad late.
And this is a huge moment.
Already a five run lead.
Mia Scoggin up.
Want to give up any more in this inning?
Yeah, and this inning felt like it was going really well for Warren defensively early on.
You get that first out right off the bat.
You get that second out.
But that stolen base that delayed steal by Hale is seemed to be those kind of caught things.
Afire.
And just like that string together some base hits.
And that momentum is starting to build once again for Monticello offensively scoring just rips it to left.
But she hit it so hard and Milton was there right away.
So the runners just move up one base.
Bases loaded two outs.
Ross at the plate.
Ross flares it out to right and the first baseman is there for the easy catch.
So McVey gets out of the big jam jam she needed to get out up to keep within shouting distance.
Monticello leaves the bases strand loaded and now Warren will try to cut into the lead.

Welcome back.
And of course, we have talked about how successful that Addie Frazier has been inside the circle six K's west on the day for Frazier.
Big time strikeouts when they've needed it the most to keep this Warren Lady Lumberjacks offense at bay.
And off the base pass.
And she's looking to try to add to that has done so well inside the circle and at the plate like we've talked about.
And she steps in here again as we are now in the top of the fifth.
Westmore and Alyssa orange with you for this.
For a state championship game.
Frazier starts with a ball to, Milton.
Milton is looking for her first hit of the game.
She struck out in the first and flew out to left.
Little to say, a little high.
We always have to wait.
We're not delayed.
We got to have to have a little bit of a delayed reaction, because we've got to wait for the umpire to tell us what he thinks.
Unfortunately, West, you and I have been wrong too, too often in this game.
About what?
That was.
It was a little high for Milton.
That one was a strike to the outside corner.
Yes.
Milton goes down swinging.
Frazier gets another strike out.
That is her seventh.
We've talked about how big she's been in the circle.
Two of her first strikeouts in the first inning.
She had two in the second.
Big time strikeouts in the fourth.
After Warren got two runners on.
And just like that.
Start things off with another strikeout here in the fifth.
Haylee Miller up now.
And she hits another ball into the gap.
Miller will stop it first but a solid hit.
She had a double in her last At-Bat.
She followed that up with a single here.
Great piece of hitting there by Miller to try to get things going.
And here's Charlie Wardlaw.
We talked about her at the start of the game, how she was my player to watch because of the offensive power that she possesses.
She's got 38 RBI.
She'd love to add to that total here, but just to get on base and get something going.
We just need to, pass the bat.
Just you need baserunners right here down five, and you don't need any kind of fireworks right now.
There's still a couple more opportunities.
String some base hits together, get some runs going.
Don't need to be a hero at the moment.
With all looks at that one, go a little outside.
Two oh count hitters count.
Charlie looking to get her first hit.
She walked in the first inning and hit one over to the first baseman, and her last at bat, though a little high, jammed her up there.
Going to check.
Nope, she did not swing.
So three oh count.
Yeah, I think she checked that.
I think that's a good call over there.
Lynn Gilbert I think you're right there.
Taking all the way.
Get me over strike!
Okay.
There it is.
Three.
One count.
Now, Charlie, ready to hit?
Watches that one cell, little outside and high.
So one lady Jacks have a little something going, okay.
And see?
And that's what you need.
You don't need a home run at the moment.
Just take what you're given.
A walk is as good as a base hit in this moment.
Ember Johnson with an opportunity.
She's flown out twice to center field.
She's been aggressive up there.
She has.
As a hitter, you're thinking, why don't you just walk the batter?
She wants to get one in play or she wants to throw a strike.
She's going to be looking for that first pitch.
Strike a little bit of a conversation here.
Booker Mays talking with the Warren staff.
You get a pitch runner?
Yeah.
A pinch runner here for your catcher.
Wardlaw.
Looks like 13.
For Warren Callaway.
Here we go.
We're ready now.
Johnson's been aggressive.
Outside corner.
You just got a take what you're given and foul it off.
Just like that.
Yeah.
I just hope she leaves one a little inside that you can get to and make her pay for it.
Oh.
Down in the count oh two.
Got one inside.
Fouled it off for inside of the bat.
Can't make the play.
Yeah it's a tough play.
Really good attempt there by Lane over at third base to try to get that ball.
But now Amber Johnson fighting to see another pitch.
At least.
She thought she had something to handle there.
But she just kept riding the inside on her.
And three got a jump on it.
Turn on it, take it down that left field line.
Just like that.
Yeah.
She's battling up there, man.
Frazier looking for a another strikeout.
And this would be big for her.
Got it.
Wow.
So back behind the runner gets away but doesn't go far enough.
Good job backing that up.
But Frazier with the big K. Yeah it was a big battle there with Johnson at the plate.
She was not allowing Frazier to really give her anything fouling off the pitches.
But that rise ball got her there at the end.
Well executed by Frazier.
Hargrave up now Hargrave had a single her last plate appearance.
She rips that to third.
It's off the third baseman.
No play is made.
Hargrave gets another hit and bases are loaded for Warren.
Great piece of aggressive bat.
Right there by Hargrave.
Keeping this Warren's Lady Jacks offense alive here.
Brees fellows.
Up next.
She had a single her last time up.
Brees was up there attacking I think first pitch swinging her last at bat.
And looking over at Lane at third making sure she's okay.
That one a hard hit ball.
Her direction looks like they're just looking at her wrist.
You may have to look at that replay to see where that got her.
It was a smash.
And of course she's playing in.
Yeah.
Not a lot of time to react.
There you go.
And it might have hit you know again if that's her glove hand right there where the glove meets your wrist bounces off that spot that that hurts.
Then there, she's good now.
Not leaving a state championship game?
No, not at all.
Fellows looking for a big hit.
Or needing runs?
The outside fellows has power.
She's got three home runs on the season.
They're not a big home run hitting team.
Bailey Miller has the most with just four.
But again, fellows has three.
She's get Ahold of it.
She got Ahold of that one.
But it's right to Ross and left field and Monticello escapes the bases loaded jam.
They maintain their seven two lead as we go to the bottom of the fifth.
Ross right in the right spot.

Bottom of the fifth.
Monticello.
Looking to add to their five run lead.
They have scored in the last three innings.
One in the second, five in the third and one in the fourth.
Our last two half innings.
Both teams have left the bases loaded for Warren's runs have only come in the third, but that's not without opportunity.
We talked about this during the break.
Eight runners left on base for the lady Jacks missed opportunities and that's a credit to Monticello's defense.
But also Addie Frazier in the circle for getting some really big strikeouts when her team needed it.
Brooklyn McVey looking to put up a zero.
She needs to get her team back in the dugout, try to score some runs, gets a fly out to right field.
So a good start.
Good way to start that one.
A one, two three inning would be huge for Warren.
If they can get that done here come the last time.
And only time they did that was in the first inning.
West.
So trying to keep the lady billies off the scoreboard and their offense.
Another opportunity here.
Monticello had the leadoff home run from Addie Frazier in the second.
In the third, they had a leadoff single that started the huge inning single hit by pitch walk, fielder's choice walk.
Another hit batter, another single home last inning.
She did get the little comebacker right to her, had the first out of the inning, but had a single.
The Wild pitch or the stolen base.
The delayed stolen base came up big because Addie Frazier grounded out to second for the second out, and then that's when things started spiraling out of control.
Yeah, but to give her credit, she left the bases loaded.
Yeah, she got out of it.
But again, it could have been another inning that could have gotten out of hand.
Okay.
Kingston, left handed hitter up.
Fouls off another one.
Senior shortstop.
She flew out her first at bat, walked, then flew out to right to end the long third inning when she slaps out to left field.
But Milton's there.
The second time she's flown out there.
Milton had her played well.
So here you go.
Here's your chance for the one, two, three inning.
And McVey desperately needs Ellis Becker coming up.
Becker flew out to right in the first inning.
She was hit by a pitch in the third and she grounded out to McVey her last time up.
Oh excuse me.
Check.
Swing foul.
Didn't mean to do that.
She's just happy that ball went foul and out of the reach of anyone defensively.
Right to the shortstop.
And Johnson makes the catch 123 Monticello goes down.
We'll see if Warren can cut into this lead when we come back.

Welcome back to Hot Springs for a girls state championship.
Warren and Monticello playing for a fourth time this season.
Monticello looking for a fourth win against Warren.
So far, so good for the Lady Billies.
We have a five run lead, 7 to 2 as we go to the sixth.
Was a really good one two, three inning there for Warren to get their offense back into the dugout.
And we've talked about how many runners they've left on base and eight can they capitalize here with really just a handful of opportunities left for already now in the sixth.
They've got this inning in the seventh inning to try to get things done.
Six outs.
Yeah.
Six outs to work with the base runners did a good job getting on the basis of the last inning.
They've had base runners.
They need runs.
Yeah.
Turn those into runs.
Presley Reed leads things off here in the sixth.
Is looking for her first hit.
She's struck out looking in the second and flew out to center field in the fourth.
You know, when the fans settle down enough that we can hear, you can actually hear the home plate umpire Booker Mays with the strike immediately.
It's the hand gesture that we're waiting on, and we can't sometimes hear the strike call.
I think the fans there, the batter, the catcher, everybody knows on the field.
But it's us in the booth that can't hear the strike.
You know we're waiting for the handlers.
Yes.
That one's going to be popped up to second.
Plays made.
And, Frazier gets a quick out.
That'll bring up Brooklynn McVey.
McVey is walked and scored.
Struck out looking on the pitch she thought was ball for an outside.
Say I heard him say ball.
I heard that.
Yeah I know it when it's quiet.
Absolutely.
You know what's happened.
They haven't been much quiet but the aren't blowing it now.
Yeah.
They got worn out.
They've lost some of that Rosella momentum.
Yeah.
Well when they started at 9:00 this morning they're going on three hours.
It wore them out.
This is as quiet it's been all night.
All day.
That was kind of a sad for us.
And in the background it is.
McVeigh fouls that one.
Cowbells have worn out a little bit.
Maybe it's the, the drama.
You know, the adrenaline that it's.
You're getting into a very crunch time.
Fans are nervous and they're getting quiet instead of getting loud.
Like, they grounds that one quick play made, but throw gets away.
No air is going to allow McVeigh to get over to second base.
Now the fans are getting into it for.
Yeah, just needed a base runner.
The base hit.
Waking up the Warren faithful over there.
Excuse me and bring it up the top of the lineup.
Avon Johnson.
Johnson has a couple of singles, but she struck out to end the fourth inning with the, a couple runners on.
That one little action moving away from the batter and goes outside.
Addie brings it in.
Nice pitch outside corner.
One one count.
Leadoff hitter Haven Johnson, the center fielder.
Screaming for this to work.
One of the most impressive things about Addie Frazier is just in key moments.
The pitches she has made.
Yeah.
Hasn't always just been a perfect one, two, three inning for her.
But she has made some quality pitches at the most important time.
Just like that outside pitch you know, it's been working for.
They've got to swing at it because of the way that the umpire's been calling that outside pitch for a strike.
Well executed.
There.
Strikeout number nine for Frazier Milton up.
Soars a little high.
Milton, the 382 hitter.
A couple of doubles double would be huge here.
Knocking the run and have another runner in scoring position.
She hit flares that one out to left.
And it is.
Worn down to their last four outs.
Yeah Brooklyn McVey there she's standing on second saying come on here in scoring position get me home.
Fouled backwards.
It was turf field is held up well a lot of rain overnight this morning.
And it's the beauty of these turf fields.
They drain so well.
Keeps the delays to a minimum.
Milton did a good job of laying off that one.
Even the count two and two.
She swung it one similar earlier and realized.
Can't hit that.
Not going to do anything with that.
Let it go down.
Gets a hold of that one out to left field but Ross is there.
Makes the catch and ends the inning.
How you can hear those Monticello fans starting to feel it.
They know they're three outs away from making history.
They head to the bottom of the sixth.

Here we go.
Bottom of the six for Monticello.
They're up five looking to add to their lead.
One big innings.
Been the difference in this game Melissa.
It really has.
And it was an inning that was a response to Warren taking a 2 to 1 lead.
Monticello said not so fast.
Added five to make it a 6 to 2 lead.
And they have not looked back since then.
Ashley Hill's up the catcher.
She's had a good game.
Got in on her a little bit and just pops it to second base.
When we saw that's going to say that's five straight outs for McVey.
Yeah we saw Warren go 1 to 3 in that previous inning.
Good thing here to pop this one up.
Limit the damage.
Give your offense one more opportunity.
We've talked about this West over and over.
They've given themselves baserunners.
They've given themselves opportunities.
They just haven't had timely hits.
And Addie Frazier right back to McVey running out of softball to play pitcher.
The pitcher.
Good job by McVey.
Fielding her position.
Gets by her.
It's probably in the center field.
Kylie Lane up now.
Lane watch is that one.
Go high.
Kylie walked in.
The second was stranded.
She walked in the third and scored.
Since she got on base in the fourth.
What she do in the fourth?
I didn't write that down.
She had a she had a single there into left center field.
Gotta give her some credit.
Thin little love.
She sounded pretty deep left field, but Milton is there for the catch.
Another one, two, three inning for McVey, but Warren needs five in the seventh to extend this game.
Six to take the lead.
Monticello three outs away from winning a state championship.
We'll see how it unfolds when we come back.
This is the Centennial Bank state championship games on Arkansas TV sports.

Literally have gone.
Welcome back to the four, a state championship game here between Warren and Monticello.
And this is it, West.
This is the opportunity for Warren to try to get into this game and force a bottom of the seventh by tying it up, but they need five runs to do it.
Three, four.
Five up for Warren.
It's Miller Wardlaw Johnson to extend this game or maybe take the lead again.
They've had the baserunners.
They've had the opportunities.
Just haven't been able to get runs across.
And you got to give credit again as we've talked about before Addie Frazier in the circle for Monticello nine strikeouts to her name.
So many of them timely when they needed it.
But I tell you, if there's anyone you want up to bat to start things off, it's Bailey Miller.
After her strikeout in the first, she has had two doubles.
She has had success.
This one gone off the wall in center field.
Three doubles today.
Wes can't start any better than that.
Well, I guess you can, but that's a great start.
We'll take it.
Miller will take it.
Gives the crowd a little life.
Is that dugout with some optimism and little hope.
Wardlaw.
Now, Wardlaw has walked a couple of times.
Hit it over to the first baseman.
She'll take a walk here, or she'll rip it down the left field line.
That's another double.
Miller comes in to score Wardlaw into second.
And just like that, these lumberjacks, these Lady Jacks say, not so fast.
We're not going away that easy.
Don't have quit on them at all.
Really well executed offensively to start things off by Miller and Wardlaw.
Amber Johnson now with an opportunity she's been able to make some contact but flown out to center field and then struck out in the fifth.
Now those students are making some noise.
There it is.
They're alive and well over there.
They haven't left.
Little low gets away.
Oh.
She hesitated.
Wardlaw does.
She looks up in the sky, like, why did I get over to third?
But you don't want to, you know.
You only got three outs.
You got to be sure you can't make it out on the base pass.
If you're not 100% sure, just be safe.
And that's your pinch runner, Blythe Callaway, who came in for her every time that she's been able to get at bats.
So again, the pinch runner, they're trying to find some opportunities.
Man, she would have loved to been able to have a nice jump and be standing on third base.
Up.
Getting loud here at Majestic Park.
Big moment.
Amber Johnson.
Looks that one just hits it in the hole.
It shorts.
Going to be a tough long throw.
No way.
Pinch runner goes over to third after the throw.
First and third.
Nobody out.
And that one just kind of died off the end of her bat towards shortstop.
And because it wasn't coming at short with very much speed, she had an opportunity to get down that base past the first base.
And by the time that throw is over there, not in time.
Hargrave up.
She's got a hit in the fourth.
Flew out to right field.
Got on base in the fifth.
Brave swinging.
It's going to be in foul territory.
Can anybody make the play?
Cannot live to see another pitch here.
That one.
A little too foul for anyone to go.
Get over there.
Carly Lane, just out of her reach.
No man's land, no woman's land.
And Natalie Hargrove will take it off.
She wants another opportunity.
365 hitter.
She's got 12 doubles on the season, 18 RBI.
Would love another one that comes inside.
Good pitch from Frazier.
Now down in the count.
Got a battle she battles.
Slaps it out in the center field.
What a catch.
Yeah.
Great job.
Jefferson.
Runner tags and scores.
But you know what?
They got an out.
That was huge.
That gets higher.
Maybe two.
Run score.
And then you got a runner in scoring position.
Take a look at this replay play now.
Makes the catch really well executed.
Keeps it from falling out of her glove.
They still score the run but wow what a catch there by Jeffers.
Because you're absolutely right.
That one bounces under her glove continues to roll to the wall.
I think they do score.
Two fellows up now.
She's been aggressive at the plate.
Got a single on the day.
One for three.
That was just that one goal.
A little low, not high enough.
Need one more base runner to bring up the tying run.
Yeah.
My one little critique there with Johnson standing on first base.
Once you saw Jeffers throw that ball home, I had to try to go to second.
Oh, my.
Fell and struck out in the second.
Singled in the fourth.
Hit out to left field in the last at bat.
Watch that one go way high.
Two, one.
Pressure situation.
Warren has two outs to work with Monticello.
Two outs away.
Two in already in this inning for Warren.
Fouls another one off.
Some nervous parents sitting back there.
A lot of nervous energy.
It's been a long season.
A lot of practices, a lot of hard work.
They know they're two outs away from seeing that pay off.
High and inside.
Fellows working the count.
Addie Frazier has come up with big pitch after big pitch all game long.
She needs one right here.
To load.
We got a walk.
That's the base runner Warren needed.
Now the tying run comes to the plate.
Little conversation there with Addie Frazier.
Just get your pitcher to calm down.
She's had so much success already this game.
No need for her to get panic or stressed.
They've been in this situation before.
Warren has had base runners, and they've found ways to get out of it.
You can do so again here.
But man, has Warren taken this opportunity in the seventh.
Reap looks at the first pitch.
It's a strike.
Swing and miss.
Took a little something off of that one.
She did a little off-speed there to just get the timing off of relief, you know, struck out in the second.
Flew out to center field and then flew out to the second baseman.
So reef trying to find some success here against Frazier.
Nothing.
Strikeout number ten for Frazier.
Look who's coming to the plate.
McVey.
Pitcher versus pitcher.
She hit a shot down the third base line.
Got on base.
Feels fitting here.
Will conference inside the circle, settling.
Addie Frazier down, and they know it.
They are one out away from a state championship.
They've got to take care of business with two runners on the tying run at the plate.
Babe walked and scored in the third.
Scored the first run of the game for Warren looking for a big hit.
They watches that one go high.
Looking for her pitch.
They said she had three home runs on the season.
I'm gonna double check that for you.
I believe that is correct.
Watches that two outside runs.
Catches the outside corner as a pitcher.
She appreciates that one being called the ball when she's inside the circle.
She appreciates that strike call exactly at the plate.
She does not appreciate it.
And they're trying to get her to chase.
But right now, on those outside pitches, just not kind of working a little too outside, a little too low, I think.
No, they were strikes.
Those were.
Yeah.
The play call.
Gotcha.
It's one two.
Oh down or last strike for the play.
Pops it up out of play.
This is what I get for being my own umpire back here.
Well, if you go down to mark your sheet and you missed the delayed call, we cannot hear the strike call now.
It is loud.
Wow.
Fay trying to battle.
Frazier.
One pitch away.
Frazier gets her.
Monticello wins their first state championship in school history.
Wow, what a performance by Addie Frazier.
11 strikeouts on the game.
She also had a home run.
What a game by Addie Frazier.
And these lady billies.
They finish the season 26 and three.
But the most important win right here.
The hugs, the celebration and the tears.
We'll come back with the trophy presentation and wrap up this for a state championship game.

Okay.
Welcome back to Majestic Park.
Westmore, Alyssa.
Orange.
It's a live look at the baseball park.
Babe Ruth field getting ready to host the for a baseball championship.
Brooklyn and Pulaski Academy.
The teams are on the field getting loose, tossing the ball around a little bit for PA Bruins Brooklyn hanging out by the dugout.
But we're still about 41 minutes away from the start of that game.
And there you go.
Monticello, your four girls softball champions.
They knock off Warren 7 to 4.
What a great performance by Addie Frazier.
Addie had 11 strikeouts.
Gave up four runs but made a great pitch after great pitch and key moments.
Now really well executed.
I mean it started here with this home run for her to get things going offensively in the second, and then they were just able to add on to it.
Of course, Warren trying to get back into this game and you got to really say they battled.
They tried to get things going.
But again Addie Frazier getting the strikeouts when she needed it the most.
Able to get some runs and and RBI's when her team needed it.
The most.
And this offensive power that Monticello has built this season just continued to be the difference here when you look at how things unfolded.
Ashley Hales, one for three, you had Mia Skowhegan, who was three for three.
Grace Ferguson one for three, but Addie Frazier one for for two RBI, had that home run.
But you can't say enough about what she did in the circle.
She was awesome.
I got to give a shout out Joanie Jeffers, the catch and center field there in the last inning.
That was huge.
That was big.
You already had the back to back doubles.
Warren had some life.
Actually had back to back doubles in a single.
And, she makes that play in center field and I mean, that's huge at first out.
And it prevents another run from scoring another base runner.
But then when it mattered there at the very end, get Addie Frazier with the back to back strikeouts to end the game.
Absolutely big time.
And there's obviously ways to celebrate this win for a long time.
Celebrate Monticello's victory with the official championship gear.

Our next game.
As we mentioned, this beautiful baseball game here between Pulaski Academy and Brooklyn at Babe Ruth Field at Majestic Park, two number one seeds.
You know what?
You had the foray and the only classification with all four number one seed to advancing to the semifinals at Pulaski Academy.
And Brooklyn will play for the title here in about 40 minutes.
One game down, three to go.
Don't go anywhere.
It's going to be a great day.
A long but great day here at Majestic Park for Alyssa Orange.
I'm Wes Moore.
Thank you for watching the for a softball game.
But be back here 1:00 for the baseball game.
