Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(cheery music) - Happy, fun Friday, all my Arkansas students and families.
Today, we're going to shake things up a little bit and have some fun talking about one of my favorite places, that space, that's right.
I'm not just wearing this space hooper any reason, I'm wearing it because today we're going to do something really fun with space.
So where did I get this space suit?
All of the state teachers of the year had the opportunity to travel to Alabama, to attend Space Camp.
A few summers ago, I got to go to Space Camp where I launched a rocket, traveled to the moon road on the gravity machine, which I was a little nervous I might get sick, but I didn't.
And then on the mission to moon, I got to serve as cap com, which means I got to be in the control center down on earth in the space center and say, "Three, two, one, blast off" and help lead the mission over the phone.
It was awesome.
So I received my patch because I'm an official graduate, which makes me an official astronaut, right?
So today what I want to do is I want you guys to kind of go to space with me.
I know we're not really going to space, but we're going to have a little fun with some things in space.
So we're going to have a scavenger hunt today.
We're going to have a little fun and have the hunt right here in the teacher's house.
So can you help me find items in this room that share characteristics with things in space?
Let's start with Mars.
Let's find something red like Mars.
On your mark, get set, go!
(upbeat music) Yay we found it!
We found it guys!
And it's red like Mars!
Y'all are gonna have to find this next one faster, Miss Megan can't keep running like that.
Now that we've found our red, do you know what?
We've got to go find something round.
Let's go find a sphere.
Are you ready?
Set, let's go over here.
(upbeat music) I found it!
Thanks guys for your help!
Woo y'all are wearing me out in this scavenger hunt.
I am sweating and out of breath, but we have one more left to find.
So the asteroid belt, I think we have to go find a belt somewhere in this room.
So let's start over here.
(upbeat music) We found the belt, we found the belt!
Woo, you guys have worn me out today with this scavenger hunt.
We've been all over this place, but look, we found the red, this sphere and the belt!
It was a fun Friday and it was out of this world!
But y'all go keep on learning with my friends and I'll see you again soon.
