(upbeat music) - Good morning, friends.

I'm Randi House.

And I'm a kindergarten teacher from right here in Arkansas.

Today, we're going to do something a little bit different since it's our last day learning together.

I want you to close your eyes, sit back, relax, and be as still as possible.

I want you to think about how you're feeling right now at this very moment.

Think about your summer.

Think about starting back to school soon.

Use your five senses.

What do you hear?

What do you smell?

What do you feel?

Now, open your eyes, and we're going to draw a picture together.

I'm gonna go step by step with you so you don't jump ahead of me.

I want you to get out a piece of paper and something to draw with.

The first thing I want you to draw is a pretty large circle.

That's going to be your head.

Next, I want you to add in your eyes.

I've already got mine added in there.

I drew mine like this.

You can draw yours, however you want to.

And for my nose, I pretty much just drew a backwards C. You can draw your nose, however you want to.

Now, we can't forget, add in your ears.

Also just use some C's there, and some hair.

Now, I want you to add in a neck and shoulders.

Now, look at your drawing.

Look at my drawing.

What's missing?

Our mouths.

Did you know that your mouth often shows others how you're feeling?

If you were to see someone whose mouth look like this, how do you think they're feeling?

What about this?

How do you think they're feeling?

What about this?

How am I feeling?

Now earlier, I asked you to take a moment to think about how you're feeling.

I want you to close your eyes again, go back to that moment.

How are you feeling?

Right now, I am feeling very happy.

So I'm going to draw my mouth like this.

(marker scratching) A great big smile.

Now, what did you draw your mouth to look like?

What's making you feel that way?

Well, I'm happy because I've gotten to spend my entire summer learning with all of you.

And I know that school is starting back soon and I cannot wait to see all the kiddos in my classroom again.

Now, I want you to share with someone in your house, show them yourself portrait and tell them about why you drew yourself that way.

Tell them how you're feeling.

Tell them about your summer and how you're feeling about school starting back.

I have so, so, so enjoyed the last few weeks with you, and I hope that you all have an awesome school year.
