(clapping) (laughing) Go.
(clapping) Whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop.
That is some awesome stuff.
Yeah.
What what do you call that?
Girl: Step dance.
Joel: Step dance.
Well, step dance.
That's awesome.
You know, dancing is such a great way to express yourself, to show personality.
And it's also great exercise.
You know, it gets the the blood flow and the heart pumping and it's good stuff.
So.
That's amazing.
I bet you all worked really hard on practicing for that, right?
Like you've had to put a lot of practice in to get that whole routine down.
So you know what we're going to do?
We're going to try to learn that today.
We'll see if we can figure this out.
And it's really good.
So you know what?
We also have a special guest with us today.
We have Ms. Neba and Ms. Neba is going to show us another step routine before we start teaching ours.
So you know what, Ms. Neba, why don't you go ahead and come on out here and show us a new step routine and we're going to see all kinds of dancers today.
You ready?
Go ahead, Ms. Neba.
(clapping) Oh, that is awesome.
How about that one?
That's good stuff.
You know, step dance is kind of it's like a percussion dance, because when we think of percussion, that's like drumming.
And the way that the stomp and the claps and the beats go, it's like a drum sound.
So it's really neat.
It's really fun.
And Chloe, I think you even have a step team or what do you guys call it at school?
You have one.
Chloe: Stomp dogs.
Joel: Stomp dogs.
The stomp dogs go out and perform.
And so maybe you're watching.
You're like, Hey, I want to start one of those at my school and you can, right?
And you guys practice at recess and you play.
It's great stuff.
So I'll tell you what, let's let's try and teach everyone who's watching how they can do this, too.
So we got to do this a little slow, right?
We've got to slow down because I got to learn, too.
So here we go.
Let's start at the very beginning and kind of go step by step.
What did you guys start with?
Two, four, six, eight.
Who do we appreciate?
Okay, so that's our first thing.
And if you're watching, you know, stand up, get up and do it with us.
And so the beginning, two, four, six, eight, who do we appreciate?
Okay, then you guys started stomping and this is where I got lost.
So you got to show me.
What are we doing here?
Girl: First we got to stomp, put your hands under here.
Joel: Okay.
Girl: Then up here.
Joel: Okay.
Girls: Back in the back.
And then under.
Under again.
Joel: Switch legs.
Girl: And then here and then back.
Okay, that was a lot.
Let's review that one more time.
Okay.
So I know we started with the stomp and we did the right foot first.
So we're going stomp, and then what?
Go under the leg, stomp, clap behind the back.
Okay, then.
Girl: And here under.
Joel: Switch legs, under.
Clap behind the back.
That's a lot going on, right?
This takes a lot of practice.
And with dancing with it with anything, right.
Whether we're learning math, whether we're we're doing any activity, it takes a lot of practice.
I tell you what, let's show the whole thing.
And if you're learning at home, learn it.
Go right ahead.
Try this out.
You guys ready?
Let's do it all again.
Go.
Girls: 2, 4, 6, 8. Who do we appreciate?
(clapping) Go.
(clapping) Oo, oo, oo, oo.
Oh.
Girl: Wait.
(laughing) Joel: And you can keep going.
Good stuff.
So I tell you what, that's a wonderful thing.
Hopefully you learned that right along with us.
Thanks for joining us today.
Keep dancing.
Keep being you and you know, like anything, if you don't get it the first time, it's okay.
Keep practicing.
You'll get better and you'll get better.
Keep improving.
We'll see you real soon.
