My name is Mackenzie and today my friend Neba is going to read to you Ollie's Box by Christian Bordelon, illustrated by Areeba Haseeb.
This is Ollie, an orange tabby cat.
Ollie loves to play, eat and most importantly, sleep.
Meow, he mews, prancing into the living room.
A box is in his way.
He circles the box, scouting it out.
It's okay because Ollie loves boxes.
Boxes are his favorite objects to play with.
They come in different sizes in many colors.
This box is blue.
It is a fun filled blue cardboard box.
Ollie is a curious cat.
He paws at the box, meow, he mews.
Ollie plays with the box.
He purrs and he mews at the box.
His paws slide the box across the floor.
This is fun.
Ollie rears back and crouches low.
He playfully scurries across the carpet then pounces into the box.
Meow, he mews.
Ollie bounces, then hides inside the box.
Meow, meow, he purrs.
This is fun.
Ollie peeks outside the box.
His ears twitch and his eyes glance around mischievously.
Meow, he meows louder than before.
This is fun.
Ollie yawns.
His meows turn to soft purrs.
He stretches his legs and preens his claws against the cardboard.
Ollie finds a warm spot in the corner, then lays inside the box.
It was fun.
Now it is naptime, Ollie yawns again.
Ollie sure does love a box.
(upbeat music)
