Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(upbeat music) Hi, guys.
I'm Randi House and I'm so excited you're joining me to listen to another story.
I've got a very fun book to read to you today.
This one is called Weasel Bitten Tail Tale.
The author is Gloria Price and it's illustrated by Cameron Wilson.
On any given day, you may see Marty, the pranking monkey swinging from the trees, grinning and giggling and cracking jokes and taunting as he teased, tossing banana peels and other stuff, upsetting the elders and causing a fuss.
Zany zebras, black stripes were painted white, hairy hippo was painted green one night.
Perry Python was tied in a knot.
Marty stole Tina Turtle's shell and boy was she hot.
Marty gave Leon the lion a high top haircut.
Milly Mouse said, Come on, Marty, enough is enough.
Marty unraveled jazzy giraffe's turtleneck.
Her legs got tangled in the yarn.
It was a total wreck.
Eva elephant was painted with purple and pink polka dots.
Not one, not two or three, but a lot, a lot, a lot.
The monkey mob laughed and cheered.
Marty was known as mischief Marty, have no fear.
Until one day he popped Willie the Weasel on the head with a hard green banana.
And Willie saw red.
Willie Weasel, eyes rolled back and he closed them tight.
Willie Weasel fell back and pretended to be out like a light.
The monkey mob stared in horror and Marty stared in fright.
Marty started screeching and jumping around.
Marty cried, It was an accident.
I didn't mean to put him down.
The Jungle crew gathered to check out the fuss.
Milly Mouse said, See, Marty, you play too much.
You silly monkey.
You have just gone nuts.
Marty stood over Willie the weasel, tears falling as he wailed.
Then all of a sudden, Willie sprung up and bit Marty on the tail.
Willie clenched his teeth with all his might.
He had a grip and he had it tight.
Round and round the banana tree.
Willie still on his tail and Marty crying, Please let go of me.
The jungle crew laughed so hard they began to cry.
Glad that Marty got pranked and Willie was all right.
The monkey mob rolled around on the ground, laughing harder than ever.
Willie finally let go of that mischief monkey's tail.
The tip of it was huge.
It began to swell.
Willie the Weasel said, that will teach you to leave us alone.
All Marty could do was hold his tail and groan.
In between groans, Marty apologized.
He said, I'm sorry.
Please forgive me, guys.
I promise I won't pull any more pranks or joke no more.
I will tease or poke.
The crowd finally, stopped laughing and called Old Doc Snail.
The old doc snail had to giggle as he patched up the weasel bitten tale.
