I am Stacey McAdoo, your forever 2019 Arkansas Teacher of the Year.
And today I am here with - Billy.
- Reagan.
- Eamon.
- [Stacey] Look at them, tell 'em, hi!
- [Kids] Hi!
- Today, we're going to focus on collaboration and teamwork, but before we do, let's shake it out.
Billy, can you teach us how to shake it out?
- Yes.
- All right.
- First, can you count to six?
- Yes.
- Yes.
- Prove it.
- [Kids] One, two, three, four, five, six.
- So we start with moving our right arm six times then our left arm, six times.
Our right foot six times, then our left foot six times.
And then we do right arm five times and then so on.
So we count down.
So let's start.
One, two, three, four, five, six.
One, two, three, four, five, six.
One, two, three, four, five, six.
One, two, three, four, five, six.
One, two, three, four, five.
One, two, three, four, five.
One, two, three, four, five.
One, two, three, four, five.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three.
One two, one two, one two, one two One, one, one, one.
- Oh my gosh.
All right, I think we're lose and ready.
Thank you guys, that was amazing.
One of the best ways I know how to demonstrate collaboration is by making a machine.
Can you all help me make a machine?
- Yeah.
- Okay, well, this is my friend, Shiny Riser, and together we will start off.
The two of us will make a movement and a sound and I want you to connect to us and make your own movement and sound.
Can you do that?
All right, let's go.
All right.
Boop, boop, boop, boop Boop, boop, boop, boop - Tick tock, tick tock Tick tock, tick tock.
Tick tock, tick tock - Wee doo, wee do wee doo, wee doo - Dun dun, dun dun - wee doo, wee doo - dun dun dun.
- Good job!
Give yourselves a round of applause.
That was an amazing machine.
I think the best machine I have ever, ever seen.
What did you all think about the machine?
- It was fun.
- Yeah.
It was really fun.
- Yeah, it was fun to do.
- Okay.
Do you think we were successful in making the machine?
- Yeah, we all worked together.
- [Stacey] We did.
- Yeah.
- Yes, it wasn't hard.
- Okay.
All right.
What makes a successful machine?
- Multiple different parts.
- All the parts working together.
- Us being able to to think of the things quickly.
- Oh my, those are great, excellent answers.
You guys are amazing.
When we think about machines or working together, are there things that make that a little bit difficult, or if so, what makes it difficult?
- Like combining ideas.
- Okay.
- Like having to think of sounds and movements on the spot.
- Yeah.
- You have to be able to do it quickly and make sure you're not copying.
- Yes.
- What someone else just did.
- Yes.
Yes.
But you guys proved that those challenges were nothing, that you were able to overcome them.
So in thinking about this, this machine, this activity, what can you learn about working in a team from this activity?
Like what did you learn as it relates to life or learning or school or anything?
- Working together makes things easier.
- Working together makes everything better.
- Everything goes faster whenever you are working with multiple people.
- I want to work with you all forever!
I love you.
You were great.
All right.
So thank you all for being here with me today.
I hope you remember this conversation and the lessons learned when the school year starts back up or when you have a problem to solve on your own.
I think that's it for today.
You all want to tell everybody goodbye?
- [Kids] Bye.
