Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(fun upbeat music) - Good morning, amazing students of Arkansas.
Today, our lesson will be on sorting things by how they look, feel, or act.
I just got back from the pet store with several animals.
When I look at these animals I realize some of them are very different from the others.
I have an idea.
Let's see how we can sort them based on how they look and feel.
Are you ready?
Which of these animals are soft?
Hmm.
That's right.
Ferrets, hamsters and rabbits.
You know, are very own Frisbee the dog is soft as well.
Let's touch some of these animals and see if we're right.
Yes, they are definitely soft.
What else do you think the rabbits, ferrets and hamsters have in common?
Hmm.
Great!
They are warm blooded.
Warm blooded animals can control their own body temperature keeping it almost the same.
Now it's time to take a look at some of these other animals from the pet store.
What do we think about these snakes and frogs?
Hmm.
Right.
They are scaly and slimy.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to hold it any longer than I have to.
So, what do you think these reptiles have in common, besides their skin and scales?
Yes, that's it!
They are cold-blooded.
That means they cannot control their own body temperature.
These animals must move to warm or cold areas, either to warm up or cool down.
Interesting stuff, isn't it?
Now it's your turn to think of some other things to sort based on how they look, feel, and act.
What about birds?
They have feathers, they can fly, and they vary in size.
They can, can be small, like Millie, or as big as an Eagle.
Do you have any animals around your house or neighborhood that you can observe?
I definitely have a lot of animals and it looks like I'm going to have to find some room to put my new pets.
Thank you for tuning in and have a fantastic rest of your day.
